Telling me a filter is made by Fram is a surefire way of me leaving it on the shelf. They are also pieces of crap.

the oil filters were not recalled, they were temporarily pulled from the shelves while a certain batch was checked. it was determined that nothing was wrong with them. Turns out CT customers are simply too stupid to install them properly. Also fram is a widely used brand sold at many places other than ct

Whatever you do, if you care about your car, DO NOT buy a Fram filter (or any filter sold under another name but by Fram). They are TOTAL garbage. Search some car forums on the web. You will see this opinion is VERY wide spread among those in-the-know. You could give me a lifetime supply of Fram for free and I would never use a single one.

Actually, getting a decent filter in Toronto is remarkably difficult. If you're shopping at Canadian Tire, you can either you go with K&N (very expensive and total overkill unless you have a high-performance vehicle) or Fram/Motomaster which are total junk.

Your best bet that is accessable to most in Canada is a NAPA filter. The regular or the gold should be fine - as long as you are getting regular oil changes.

I personally like Purolator filters which are virtually impossible to find in Canada - so I stock up big from Pep Boys when I'm in the US.

Well, this figures!! Right up there along with the quality Of Jobmate branded junk!! But we are led to believe we are buying better quality when it comes branded under Fram, or Motomaster... so why are we being sold Chinese junk under false pretenses??? I think corporate betterstart reviewing their policies sooner rather than later... it will only take one high profile expose on one of the T.V. shows like 60 Minutes or Marketplace to really turn people off Canadian Tire shopping, and so much for your company reputation (such as it is???), your stock value, and your likelihood of future profits. I am not one of your company executive marketing analysts, or gurus, but even I can see the writing on the wall!
