I haven't shopped at the Gibson Drive/Merchant Drive Canadian Tire in Mount Pearl, but I have bought two new tires and gotten them installed there after I had a blow-out on the freeway a few kilometers outside St. John's (and it was the nearest and first place I could think of to go to before my not so great spare tire blew too). When I got there, the automotive parts and service department told me that there would be a 3-4 hour wait to get my car in and they don't take appointments, so I would have to leave it there. This was after I stood in front of the service desk for 15 MINUTES waiting for someone to come there, as endless associates walked past me and ignored me when I asked...That was okay - I hung around the business park a bit, went to the gym that was there (quite ironic location for a gym, right next to a million restaurants in an area with no sidewalks and endless 4 way stops - not the friendliest place for anyone not in a car) and came back about 3 hours later and they got it in early and had it finished.

I was scared to death to drive a vehicle that Canadian Tire touched, especially in St. John's where god knows what could happen (lots of excellent drivers around there), but the tires didn't fall off and the car didn't explode or anything within the first 15 minutes, so it was okay. The tires were around $70 each and they installed them for free. I also got some kind of cleaner (windshield?), I forget what in a little thank you package that was waiting on my passenger seat when I came out of the store.

Four months later, the tires are still intact and my car is still functional. I guess I got lucky with Canadian Tire service ;)

That reminds me... I really need to get winter tires on...
