I also work the customer service desk at CT, and the original packaging thing IS a big issue. When you buy something you always take the nice, doesn't look like its ever been opened package, not the crappy looking ripped up package. Being rude to the person who is trying to serve you isn't going to get you anywhere but kicked out of the store.

From a current manager to a fellow manager? Amen to that! How can people even think about arguing the fact that in order to return a product it must be RESELLABLE.. In otherwords, would you the customer want to buy a vacuum that is full of cat fur? no? well that is why we want it sealed, unused.. In otherwords, you basically decided you didn't need it after all (BUT DID NOT USE IT).

Some products we don't return or are more strict on for OBVIOUS reasons!

ie. Booster packs and battery chargers (auto) = We don't return them or are more strict to stop people from using them and returning them (WE SELL PRODUCTS, WE DON'T LOAN).

GPS = If it's opened, people usually just use it for the weekend trip and want to return it..

THE BIG ONE.. TIRE CHAINS.. We DON'T EVER give refund on tire chains.. why? didn't use it? so.. you don't have to INSTALL THEM to USE THEM. They can be used completely sealed in the box and still be used. You have 72 hours (3 days) to see if they fit and if not, we will exchange for another size.

Re: From A Customer Service Rep

I have to agree, I will never take my vehicle there again! I took my truck there for a oil change and to put winter tires on. A week later i check the oil it is a good inch too much so i take it back. Later the front tires always need refilling of air so I take it back, It is determined that they installed the wrong tire valves.
This week i take my wife's car to a garage for a oil change not at C.T. and they ask if i knew the tires were installed backwards. Guess who did that C.T.
So we got 3 very simple things done at C.T. and they screwed up on each one.
The manager when confronted has the gull to say i'm a unlucky person.I figure the least he could do is offer me a free oil change or something for wasting my time, but nothing. I will be sending a e-mail to the head office and maybe a local paper article.
Just imagine the screw ups they do when it is real mechanics and not just changing oil or tires!!

No problem with you trying to kick me out of your precious store, you arrogant fuck. I don't patronize Canadian Tire anymore and never will.

Wow... i mean just wow. Someone indicates that they wont tolerate rude behavior (not even directed to you) and you call them an arrogant fuck. I really wish you could see the irony in that but my guess is you never will. I really doubt CT or any store would even want you as a customer, you wouldn't be worth the time.

Yeah, that's the asshole Canadian Tire way. Provoke someone into a rage and then blame them for getting upset. I already told you I won't go to Canadian Tire, so why are you saying things like, "I really doubt Canadian Tire would want you as a customer"?
    Fuckwad.

Who's the moron? Yes, you're the moron. Learn how to spell "you're" in context.
