I used to love my job, I took passion in learning about different and new produts in the store, even stuff outside of my department I preferred it that when I got a compliment I would get something out of it but the new pins system is okay, I guess.
I even hung out with a lot of people from work and made good relationships with all my managers, even the store owner atlest knew my name.

But I can no longer stand up for them, I'm all around disapointed and pissed off to be frank, I've been unemplyoed for 4 weeks now because a new manager who had it out for me from the begining got away with firing me in the most unprofessional way.

I'm not saying the store didn't take some action and I eventual got my severance pay. But the fact that they still work there grinds my gears.

An employee is supossed to get some sort of a warning then three write ups, if said person is still acting up they are fired, or if say someone comes in drunk, they will get fired no warnings or anything.

I wasn't like that at all, I was a hard worker.
And did I ever get a warning?

I was just told last minute the thing I did wrong (Note: I said THING) they told me (and by they I mean my new manager and my brand new fresh from the floor used to be my coworker supervisor) said my work ethic dropped, but also gave me no example of what I did wrong. And as I recall two managers had to be present when someone is being let go. But they didn't tell anyone about it. I had to email the owner of the store to infrom him the unfairness of the situation.

They also only offered me 1 WEEK of work, when its supossed to be two.

Again, its only because of my email that I got my two weeks severance pay, because they didnt mention a thing about money to me, or who to contact once I was "let go."

It was the slow part of the year, but I had bills to pay so some days I did bring in my bad mood, I will admit that.
But now the fact that I find out they hired someone that had once been fired to replace me just because the new manager has a 'close' relationship with them is completely mind blowing to me. They do not deserve that postion.

I'm furious with Canadian Tire.

I will miss the friends I made there, but they haven't made much conatact with me since I left.

What are you gonna do except say. Canadian Tire SUCKS

Your absolutely right and i agree with you i work there and i usually put the customers in front of my job (currently employed) for a few weeks now i been getting yelled at usually for shit i didn't do or was really fucking stupid. im like you except its the store owner who hates me Im not even too sure why he doesn't fire me but im thinking about quitting and maybe getting a job at near by competing stores and i get yelled at for stuff that people do all the time like rarely giving attitude and some other things. I just think they hate me and dont even care about making money.... they just hate me. :'( ps the manager also basically said im the idiot of my work saying i always mess up im slow at job. so fucking unprofessional. they also aways take me into a room to yell at me not in front of everyone.

So sad, to hear about these poor people being exploited and treated so badly. It's not their fault that such a crappy store is still being shopped at, instead of all the superior stores out there. How much does Crappy spend on advertising every year? 150 million? 200 million? Would be better spent, trying to run decent workplaces instead ...

I'm a manger I've worked at 3 different stores, out of the 3 I've worked at this one is the best!I had to work my ass off to get here..the pay is finally good enough to survive off of. The key thing to remember is that all stores are individually owned and that head office is probably trying to fix stuff but at the end of it the senior management pushes all the buttons. If you were fired, it was because you got yourself fired. I've never been fired and I've only fired 1 person because she ways late to work 4 times a week consistently. It was constantly a hassle and she just didn't care! If you don't care about your job guess what we don't care about you! Plain and simple..FIRED. There are people out there that would love an opportunity to give they're best and we have slackers taking up all the space. It is extremely important as a manager to have a good relationship with your staff..I bring in Tim Hortens for my department when I know it's going to be a busy weekend/day. I help them they help me and we suceed! If someone messes up that's fine but if you pretty much show me you don't give a shit then SEE yah!

I agree with some of the garbage you have to say. Yes there is a franchise program for Canadian Tire.

Nope. Head office does nothing. Sounds like a cluster fuck if they were.

My manager never has a good relationship with anybody other than to brown nose to management. And mine is the same as the rest. Hey. Why not? They might get a couple of dollars more included with the bonus at the end of the year.

Fire people?
Never heard of. They seem to lack the balls for that. Besides that. Cut down on costs by reducing severance pay. And Profit sharing? I have never known a past employee who was able to collect.

I remember the last time my manager brought in Timmies. I threw it in the garbage and walked away.

So manager?

Do you get paid extra salary? More Bonus? How about each time you post? I mean like 10 times more and you can afford a coffee

I know its been over a year now but i just have to say. I did not get myself fired, things were rough sure but while i did 11 carts of inventory my new "Manager" was flirting wit her now boyfriend that she hired as soon as she fired me.
Also after firing me it turned out she had no right to.
She is now not allowed to fire anyone without telling someone, because she told no one she was firing me, she went around the other managers and got rid of me only for a personal reason of thinking I was going after the guy she liked.
She now works there and at a restaurant to meet ends and I work at much more giving and comforting place.
And if you think I didn't try you obviously didn't read what I wrote because I tired so hard to know new things and work my ass off just for a simple "Good job." from someone. I worked there for two years with no issue and as soon as she stepped in hating my guts i got fired? I wouldn't say that was my fault.

But once again.

I'm in a better place now, I should thank her. But now she harasses my boyfriend who works there simply because she doesn't like me.
