I'm sure Canadian Tire thanks the admins and users of this site for the advertising along the left. It would be appear the admins of this site support their cause, but not if it costs them money.

Some might find that a little hard on the credibility of this ridiculous corner of the net.

Not me. That credibility couldn't get any lower after reading the inane generalizations and unsubstantiated statements that are rampant on here.

"Wa.Wa. I bought something and now it's on sale".

"Wa.Wa. I broke something and they won't take it back because I lost my receipt".

"Wa.Wa. The world owes me something because I still think I'm a child where my parents raised me as a spoiled brat and I'm used to always getting my way."

What a joke.

You missed your own:

"Wa Wa - I like getting shafted by big business and will go through life being ripped off because I love it so much."

Is Sandy McTire your dad?

this guy must have cut his teeth as a CT customer service agent. He hears nothing from the customer except wa, wa, wa and immediately invokes his superiority, declaring the product good, having not even heard the complaint.

don't forget the 48 hour turnaround time to allow for your customer specialist to reject the complaint.

the agents must get great work satisfaction. Hey Bill, I pissed off 9 (former) customers today...how many did you piss off? You shoulda heard this one guy, claiming that we stripped the thread on his oil pan plug..ha, little does he know we pissed in his gastank...

Gerry, the only problem with your scenario is that many of them won't be former customers. Canadians seem to have this attraction to being crapped on by retailers. People complain about Canadian Tire and then keep going right back.

I don't. I expect good customer service, pay extra for it, and reward it with repeat business. Needless to say, I haven't darkened CT's doors for more than two years, and from the sound of things, not much has changed to get me back...

well, the way I see it, there are things under their control and things outside of their control. Sometimes products are faulty, whether manufactured here or in China.

I only expect reasonable-ness when a product they sold me and profitted by is defective. In essence there are damages. If my new battery dies and I need a tow truck for instance.

Customer service and proper support of what they sell is one of those things under their control. They treat you like a thief. "What if you went to a junkyard, found an old battery, doctored it up, made some face serial number stickers, put some manufacturing stamps on the old battery, got a receipt for yet another battery within the warranty period". Okay, that must be a scam that I never heard of. Do you think its worth pissing off 1000 honest customers for that one guy that will go to some great lengths to ....to......get a new $100 battery.

Wouldn't this be better:
"I'm sorry sir, I hope your family wasn't stranded as a result of the problem. We do have the occasional battery fail within warranty, give me your receipt and I'll have one of the mechanics charge a new battery for you and install it. Once again, I apologize."

Then I come back over and over again, fill up my car with gas from their pumps, suggest to friends and family to go there if they need a new battery or a lawn tractor.

What is your profit on a battery mr. 1Jacques? Maybe $20. Well you've just lost my business for life, and if I can't convince 100 other people to shop elsewhere then I have not done my job.

Yes, we canadians are way too willing to go back, but I now go out of my way to damage their sales.

I go out of my way to brag up good service (Princess Auto comes to mind--some of the stuff they well is crappy, but they back it up with a satisfaction guarantee--as an aside, they also have shoplifters and thieves, but manage to not paint all their customers with the same brush, unlike some of the CT staff I have come across in the past). I also hold a grudge. Sue me. This site wasn't invented on imagination alone. The fact that you're here is also telling...

im not looking down on you for posting numb nuts... im looking down on you for not letting it go after 2 yrs.... if you are infact being honest about that, then clearly you are not a well balanced individual, i hope you and your shrink can sort it all out

I'm not letting it go because they're not. You see, every week, without fail, they send me a flyer detailing all the things they don't have in stock, hoping to reel me in and get me to break down, give them my money, and take a raincheck.

Not gonna happen...

PS-Merry Christmas!

The genius strikes again! What makes you think I've been complaining for two years? I think you've got the wrong person, bozo.

Looks the WA WA guy is right about the fact about how many customers come into the store and are all upset because something they want was on sale the week before. They are like oh I thought the sale was still on. Well CT has a sale every week, look at the dates in the flyer.

But that's not a problem as the customer can goto Cust. Service, and if the time that has passed isn't too long, the can easily get the old sale price, or even get a price for a sale that starts days later. Now that is how you keep customers happy.
What bothers my chops is when customers come in looking for a product we don't have, which though my CT carries many products, that does happen often, and the customer gets mad at your, the floor employee, when it has nothing to with us. All we can do is check other stores, I call other stores sometimes, but it is actually frowned upon to do so. That would be merchandising/owners fault, not the floor employees fault people. Take your concerns to head office if you want change.
