Bad, Worse, Worst?

Lori G.: Please make sure you are checking your wheel lugs if you have any work done at the Intercity location in Thunder Bay Ontario. They left 2 off my jeep left me without a spare tire. Threw the dismounted spare tire in the backseat of my jeep after being told 4 times not too. Total of 2 days and 8 hours to get 4 tires changed. Horrible customer service given with the general manger welcoming me to go to small claims court. They post a copy and pasted message on your post telling you to contact the customer service number who give you a number and ask you to wait. Disgusting money means more then the safety of their customers. If this happens to you please act on it and call the MTO and inform them of this unsafe practice as we are. They doesn't seem to act on customers concerns

Thanks to the tire guy at the local Canadian Tire for telling I couldn't get the tires I wanted. First he told me he would have to order them which I said was fine. I don't know if he and whoever he went to talk to in the back just didn't know better or were trying to force me to buy other tires. Either way, I went somewhere else and got the tires I wanted and saved almost $30. They had to order them in too and were happy to do so.

Ordered tires online 20days ago, have gone to store to pick then up 4 times. Still told they weren't in yet. Now that I'm asking to have 4 other tires instead and kicking up a stink that they should be in long before now they magically appeared. Your Corner Brook Newfoundland store has some of the worst customer service I've ever experienced!

So, this pages moderators suggestion to email Canadian Tire in regards to my tire changing fiasco resulted in another passing of the buck. The email responder told me to talk to the store manager. Gee...thanks for the help.

Well done Canadian tire in the thunder centre in Thunder Bay Ontario for leaving 2 lug nuts off the front tire , left me with no spare tire , threw the old tire in the back seat of my jeep leaving a stain on the seat and leaving the spare tire to coming flying out of the back seat hitting me in the head. Buckle up guys because MTO will be called on Monday morning to have you investigated. As for your 2 manager one a general manager James who told me to deal with it myself and got to small claims court then because he was ready for me!!! Really?? Then I guess if this is what you want James and Canadian tire then we will.

Typical:

Dianne S.:
Very bad experience, swapped my winter for summer tires, they put a damaged tire on my car,on the inside where I wouldn't see it. When found by an independent mechanic 2 days later, there was no missing this was dangerous. This is by a store that calls themselves Canadian TIRE. Perhaps if they had spend LESS time trying to find burnt out bulbs, dirty in cabin air filters, and pushing for an expensive wheel alignment, they would have noticed that they were putting a dangerously damaged tire on my car, makes you wonder where it got damaged. Not a chance of getting through on the phone to the manager of the sales department

Apparently the Canadian Tire store on McLeod Rd. in Niagara Falls is no longer in the TIRE business. I bought a pair of trailer tires on sale last falls but when I took them in to have them mounted on my trailer rims the supposed Service Manager told me they don't do that and referred me to a garden equipment shop. He was even so arrogant as to tell me he could sell me trailer tires on rims for less money than he would charge me to mount mine. UNBELEIVABLE !!!! I found a tire hop that did the job in minutes and only charged me $20.

LOL!

Email address you provide bounces back as undeliverable ... similar to the service manager who cannot deliver service

Pete M.: I also send an email to cdn tire customer relations two days ago but no reply, nice ! Thought maybe a message to the @Big Cheese@ might get a response but guess not. Their service has gone down the toilet since they started trying to compete with the big boxes !

Multiple ways to suck in one, sad story:

Jerome M.:

Canadian Tire - Tire Repair Fail....
I live out in the country and had the unfortunate case where I picked up a nail in a tire. Given I could not get it repaired right away, I used a temporary tire plug, prior purchase from Canadian Tire part number 009-2140-6, intended as a "temporary repair of tubeless tire punctures" - per info on packaging. - all is good at this point.
The packaging also states "The general industry standard recommends a combination of plug and inner liner patch to be considered a permanent repair. Please see a tire repair professional as soon as possible." - OK Got it...
Last night I made it into town to have the tire permanently repaired at my favourite Canadian Tire Store... However, I was informed that they could not, or dare I say would not, fix the tire as it already had a plug put in and they could not put in a new plug as it would not seal and continue to leak. As this did not make any sense to me, after further questioning they conceded that it was store and "corporate policy" not to repair a hole that already had a temporary plug put in the tire for liability reasons. Even after I pointed out the label on the package I took directly from the shelf in the store, it was conceded that I had a point, that their position was contradictory, but they would still not fix the tire.
So for anyone who takes initiative to temporarily fix a flat tire with a temporary tire plug purchased from Canadian Tire, be forewarned that Canadian Tire will not make a permanent repair of your tire using the industry standard practice as identified on the packaging that a "tire professional" would do.
And before you suggest that the damage the tire was too significant to repair, I just went to another tire shop, and without even knowing about my prior poor service I had received, they not only repaired the tire but balanced it for no charge $0.00 was my bill. They even gave me a tip that the next time I remove a tire form the rim I should mark where the valve stem is so that they could remount the tire the same place to make re- balancing easier. It was then that I politely told them that I did not dismount the tire but the prior tire shop that refused to fix the tire had... I could not explain why they did not mark the tire to make it easier to remount and balance....

An interesting things about tire "installation", is that it covers many steps, including the following:

- Remove the wheel from the vehicle.
- Dismount the old tire from the rim.
- Install the pressure sensor, value stem, etc.
- Mount the new tire on the rim.
- Balance the wheel.
- Bolt the wheel onto the vehicle.

I guess any of these fundamental steps could be deliberately excluded from an "installation", so that the shop can gouge an innocent customer for some extra cash.

But you know what? Lots of tire shops will include balancing as part of "installation", and even alignment and sometimes patches and rotation for the life of the tire!

Costco Costco.ca: Shop for Tires
"Lifetime services include inflation pressure checks, tire balancing, tire rotations, as well as flat repairs."

Walmart: http://www.walmart.ca/en/automotive/tires/N-2095

"All new tire purchases at Walmart come with: no charge road hazard warranty, free flat repairs for life and no charge tire rotation every 10,000 km."

But guess who's different? Guess who considers balancing (an essential part of every tire installation, by the way), as an optional extra that has it's own, separate charge?

Yup, you guessed it: Crappy Tire:

Canadian Tire

"you are also responsible for ... installation, balancing, rotation, alignment, disposal fee and applicable taxes".
