Holy Crap!

On CT's web site, they've decided to start hawking this snake oil crap, called "Super Eco Fuel Saver". It's one of those bogus fuel additives.

Who knew that an alleged service center would even dare stock junk like this, let alone push it on their web site!

The product is here: Super Eco Fuel Saver | Canadian Tire

The site claims that this crap "extends fuel milage up to 30%". Outrageous!

People have been posting sites of automotive experts and consumer advocates, who disprove these rip-offs.

So what did Crappy do? Did they remove the ad's for these waste-of-money scams? Did they stop selling this crap?

Of course not! They just removed the posts that told the truth about these products!

LMAO!

Here's one of the sites Crappy doesn't want their customers to know about. It by those liars at the EPA!

Yet another resolution, in French, then in Bing's English version:

Sylvie Vincent Faire reparer ma voiture ailleurs que chez Canadian Tire. 3 visites en moins d'un mois, plusieurs centaines de dollars de depenses et j'ai toujours des problemes avec ma voiture. Et par dessus tout, le service est tres tres mauvais. Le client derange ! On nous le fait bien sentir. Et bien moi, je vais le faire savoir partout autour de moi : evitez canadian tire autant que vous pouvez !
To repair my car other than at Canadian Tire. 3 visits in less than a month, several hundred $ and I still have problems with my car. And above all, the service is very very bad. The disturbed customer! Are we the felt well. And me, I'll let know everywhere around me: avoid canadian draws as much as you can!(Translated by Bing)

Give away your personal information to maybe win a vacation:

Jodie Tomlinson I wouldn't trust any of the Canadian Tire mechanics to touch my car EVER AGAIN!!!!! So I guess I won't be entered for a vacation.

Sean Gaukroger I know a mechanic who worked at C.T. And he told me to never take my car there for service under any circumstances.

Chris Rickert The number one tip of any sort you could offer people is to take their cars/trucks anywhere but Canadian Tire in Kanata, Ontario. They charge for services not performed and when the store manager is questioned on it, he is arrogant and cannot even provide a copy of work order showing why charges were applied/charged or what work was even done. When he smiled sarcastically at me and then whispered he was not afraid of me, well I was shocked. No offer to return funds paid, I said this was not going to be the end of this, again he laughed and sarcastically told me good-bye.
So again, I post...this is not the end of this....those of you who continue to get auto service at Canadian Tire....you don't always get what you or your wife paid for.

And Lin has some insights for Craig regarding the poor auto service at Canadian Tire:

Lin Cripps Craig, if your experience is anything like mine they will start off with a very nice man calling you and saying all the right things before he hands it to the store location that you had a problem with, that's where it all goes wrong, nothing happens, I will never shop Canadian Tire again. This was in Winnipeg. Good Luck.

This complaint about poor automotive service was posted by Marcela in July on this thread: https://www.canadiantiresucks.net/g...-ct-auto-service-dundas-403-what-service.html

I went to CT at Dundas and 403 to have my breaks fixed.. Seemed like the pads had to be replaced as could hear the griding noise... Left the car with them and they called me back, send me a 2 page estimate in the email to fix my breakes for $1200. Had to replace this and that and full system and so on... What?!?!?!?!?! I refused the repiar, paid the $50 for inspection and took the car to the dealership... Had it fixed the next day and paid $300. Need it only front pads and rotors... I went back to CT store and spoke with the service manager.... Very blunt he told me that everybody is entitled to his opinion and he won't refund me the $50. Sooooooooooooooooo ruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuude... I called the HO and spoked with the GM which was getting ready to go on vacation for one week and promised she will get back to me after she'll be back.. I wonder...
I heard friends saying that auro repairs at CT sucks... Now i know. Why didn't I listen?

I'm not sure if Craig has totally given up having his issue of poor automotive service at Canadian Tire ever resolved at all. They clearly haven't kept their promises on Customer Service. Maybe he's settling to just warn others?

Another consumer with a warning about poor automotive service at Canadian Tire:

Johnny Lade I have stopped getting car service at Canadian Tire. A muffler repair estimate of $1000 was fixed by my country mechanic for $150. Taking your car to Canadian Tire is at your peril.

Another inflated estimate from the folks at Canadian Tire:

Gordon DeWhite CT is a rip off !!! Don't believe me ? Take your car there to have repairs and you'll find that you pat 30% more than anywehre else. They wanted $980.00 for our muffler sys and I got it done for $675.00 at Discount Muffler.

Another tale of woe from yet another now-ex-customer, who made the mistake of trusting the word of a Canadian Tire service center rip-off artist:

Destiny Hodgins After today's repairs to my 2004 Ford Focus at the Prince of Wales drive location in Regina Saskatchewan, I will NEVER again use a Canadian Tire for maintenance or repairs to my car OR shop at ANY Canadian Tire location.

The reason? I was quoted 1015$ to replace the alternator, battery, run the no start diagnostics and do an oil change. After consulting with colleagues I called THREE other repair shops, including the Ford dealership and a NAPA Autopro location. No one quoted me more than 650$ for the entire job. Based on the model and engine of my car, the replacement of the alternator should have taken no more than 2 hours - I was charged for 3 hours. I demanded an explanation and was told I had a dual engine - the quotes I received were WORSE CASE scenario, including battery replacement, belts AND the alternator.

Not a single one was more than 650$ including the oil change, and all stated that with a dual engine the replacement should only take 2 hours and that if it took more than that, I was paying a mechanic to pick his nose for an hour.

Furthermore, my battery was newer - around 2 years old. NONE of the people I asked said I needed a new battery. My old battery was NOT completely dead (my hazards were still working) and it was more than possible for them to recharge my battery and for me to continue to use it. I was told by the service professional who called the mechanic at home, that it was necessary. I called over to Battery Depot and was told that I was lied to. My car battery would have been more than capable of holding a charge.

I paid the price when no one at the store was willing to give an inch and because we are in the middle of a nasty winter storm in Regina and I needed my car.

That said, as a result, I will never service my car at ANY Canadian location again (you have done 2 safeties- one of which included EXTENSIVE repairs, as I moved from province to province, multiple oil changes, replaced a rad hose, and now this work) and myself and my family shop regularly at your store. Large purchases include vacuums, fitness equipment and a lot of various items - not to mention frequenting the garden centre every spring.

Neither myself, nor my family members will shop at Canadian Tire again as a result. As I work for a large corporation myself, I felt it essential that you are aware of the fact that your Prince of Wales location is CHEATING loyal customers out of money.

Destiny's story brought back some terrible memories of dangerously poor service at a Canadian Tire auto center:

Manuela Veuskens I had my car safety done at Canadian Tire in Gananoque Ontario. I drove for 1.5km and my drivers side rear tire came off as I turned a corner, the tire just missed a group of children and I hit the curb nearly missing a car a people crossing the street. I will NEVER EVER GET MY CAR SERVICED AT Canadian Tire again and I tell my story to anyone who will listen. This happened in Dec of 2008 and yes there is a Police recorded of the incident. I have never received so much as an apology from Canadian Tire or compensation for the damage done to my car.

Here is a copy of what Alan posted, over on this thread: https://www.canadiantiresucks.net/e...iantire-auto-service-apprentice.html#post7886

----

I worked at the #304 shop for my 1st and half of 2nd year apprenticeship.
I have seen countless amount of bullshit during the time I worked there, but I will just give out a few examples.
A customer had a concern about his heater not blowing hot. I looked at the vehicles and determined that there's nothing wrong with it. (It was an old model caddy with auto hvac, it adjust the temperature automatically based on the driver's setting and input from temperatures sensor.) I explained to the customer and he was satisfied, until my manager, a master tech from GM, came to me and said he wanna go through the car with me. then he proceed to recommend 7 hours of work to remove the air box to inspect for restriction. all that without even over riding the computer to control the temperature and blower motor manually. good thing the customer didn't buy it.

Alberta law prohibits apprentices to be paid flat rate until fourth year. I came to me as a shock when I learned that at schoool when I had already been working there for 2 years. and the so called flat rate wasn't how flat rate was suppose to work. There were alot of work that the mechanics weren't getting paid for, such as brake, exhaust inspection. In a real flat rate shop, mechanics will get paid for everything they do, despite the shop not charging the customers.

The only people that are not being ripped are the managers, even the mechanics get ripped by the shop. All the good techs are gone, because they can.
