    This story is just horrible!

Michael M.: We had put our car in for an mvi. When I mentioned about getting a second opinion they pulled the temporary which allowed the car to be driven off. So the car couldn't be driven and my wife who was 8 months pregnant was left to walk a twenty minute walk to work. This was at your Quinpool store in Halifax. When I had addressed what had happened he chuckled at my now lack of choices as if an oh well... The car was removed from the premises and we've never been back. This would have been around March 2010.

Sherry B.: Just had a horrendous ordeal with Canadian tire Red Deer South, after the first battery dies they charge me to put the second one in when it is warrantied, then the second one dies and kills my cluster and radio, and I spend four hours waiting with no service while they leave my vehicle running so is does not die again. I end up having to take it elsewhere, for service who only find the battery as an issue and since it was completely dead after only 8 months this time they have to put a battery in so I can take it home and tell me to take it to the dealership to figure out why the dead battery made the instrument panel and radio stop costing me further. I take the battery I got from Canadian tire to the store I got it from and they will not give me a refund or a credit only another crappy battery which I explained the ordeal. They were rude and told me to tell anyone I wanted about this they did not care that is their policy. I was a loyal customer as was my mom but no more, completely unimpressed with their lack of integrity and unwillingness to make things right. This cost me well over $50.

    Follow-ups:

Michael M.: You asked if I had called customer service. After everyone had backed their own people we gave up. I did call customer service after awhile however was told where time had passed there was nothing that could be done. Surprise. Sorry but that really sucks there's no other way of putting it

Michael M.: Not to mention I am a truck driver so no need to preach safety Canadian Tire as a whole is like that with their automotive dept. I know quite a few people who won't go there due to problems of overcharging

Michael M.:Put yourself in my place having a very pregnant wife at the time. Nothing was done to rectify the problem of her having no transportation to her office which was 9 blocks away.

Pam A.: Had my brakes done and the light stayed on. Took the car back 4 times, they found a 39 cent spring was missing. I was charged 39 cents plus tax and $39.00 to install it.

Dave D.: On a recent visit by my wife to get my oil changed I requested that while on the hoist that they check the rear differential fluid level. She was imformed that it would cost $34 to do that. She called me and told me the cost. At that time if I hadn't been going away the next day I probably would have told them to put it in the ground and left the store. I realize everyone is cutting corners but $34 to remove a plug and check the level a task that would take a total of two minutes is absolutely ridiculous. That $34 cost CTC a longtime customer.

Over-charge. Filter might not have even needed to be changed.

David E.: MAJOR GRIPE! I took my daughter's car to Canadian Tire a few months ago for a brake light repair and an oil change. While they were working on the car the mechanic informed me that the air filter was dirty and needed to be changed. I asked how much the filter was and was told $13 and change. When I was checking out I asked about a 0.3 hour labour charge. It was over $28. I was told it was the standard charge for changing an air filter. What the heck? I've never been charged for changing an air filter during an oil change. Is this new? She has a Pontiac G6. There are 3 screws to remove in order to take off the plastic lid. The filter is a flat thing that sits inside like a white, pleated mat. Easiest thing in the world to change. They had to open the lid just to examine it. If I had said no to a new filter they would have had to put it back together anyhow. They wouldn't have charged me to look at it. That's part of the job. I could train a monkey to do this. It takes less than 3 minutes in a demonstration video on YouTube. How can they possibly justify charging for this?
