Krista S.: #SpreadTheCheer I'm not too cheery. I purchased the Mastercraft Maximum 7 amp ½” drive Hammer Drill on August 11th in the hopes that it would be better than the last two 6 amp hammer drills that I purchased and died on me. The 5 year warranty was particularly appealing. The first day I used it (Dec 17th), the motor died. When I returned it to the East store in Regina, they didn't have any to replace it because it is discontinued and I was told to go to the South store that had three. This store looked two times in the warehouse but couldn't find it. When I asked to exchange for another model they said they would only refund the money I paid. I returned to the East store in an attempt to get a more satisfactory response and was again stone walled and treated rudely by the manager Sandeep. Apparently when Canadian Tire doesn’t want to honour warranty on a product, they just need to discontinue the product. I am disappointed that both managers did nothing to resolve the issue. The manager at the South store was willing to sell another drill at the last sale price but it was something I had to request (The sale wasn’t very good). The manager of the East store Sandeep actually walked away from me when I was talking to him. I normally like Canadian Tire and look forward to their flyers but this experience has left me with a sour taste in my mouth and a broken drill that I can’t finish my project, so much for warranty. I would think that it’s reasonable to expect if an item no longer exists, that it would be replace by something similar.

Jp N.V.: Mastercraft or any Canadian tire line of products is garbage for instance just used a brand new set of drill bits and half of them are either dull and a few broke , like really? Improve your product nevermind these ads

Tim M.: Dewalt is a b&d owned brand but is of much higher calibre. I've used Dewalt for the last 20 years and the tools I had then are still in action now (although the old 12v seems weak by today's standard). Over the years nearly ever b&d tool has broken or become worn and unusable. Just my experience, but I sure do put my tools through their paces every day.

Tim M.: Black and decker is garbage made in China and left in storage for ages, killing the batteries when new. I won't bother with b&d in my shop. I've had the best experience with Dewalt products.

Cameron G.: Rough estimate of the cost of using Chinese tools compared to commercial industrial quality tools. 1 hr/day 7 days a week x 6months life expectancy÷ $40.00 =.21 cents an hour. Vs. 1hr/day 7 days a week x 10y life expectancy ÷$150 = .04 cents an hour.
So Its costing 5 times as much to own and use Chinese tools to get the same work done!

Cameron G.:I repaired tools all my life, Simple fact is china is only interested in having a reasonable facsimile of a quality tool. Designed to last a month or so just to get you out the door. Pay 39.99 for a recip saw that will last a few months or pay 150 for a tool that will last 8 hrs a day for 10 years. China is taking us over by selling us junk.

Steve G.: Half the wood working tools from ct are junk. The router will not hold the bits in place. They fly across the room. Not safe

Rod N.S.: Try making products that are worth what you charge. I bought a yard works Axe 5 lb breaker for almost 50 bucks. Not even 6 months later and the handle is falling apart it's made from some super cheap wood. Wood by nice if something as simple as an Axe could be made to last.

James R J.: I am a mechanic and have been buying tools from Canadian tire for 40 years and I cannot return a simple racket with their name stamped right on it because I cant find the bill so im guessing all the tools I purchase with lifetime warrenty over the past 40 years are junk now,,i feel so cheated that Canadian tire lied to me,i also have craftman and snap on tools and can exchange them anytime they break with no problems, why are Canadian tire such liars and why would they cheat a guy whos been a loyal customer for over 40 years,i am so disgusted and feel so freakin cheated,I make my living with my tools and Canadian tire are cheating every mechanic out there,so if you make a living with your tools do not buy Canadian tire, their warrenty is garbage and they will not honor it,if I had kept a receipt for every tool I purchase id have no room in my box for tools,it makes me sick that they would cheat me

Craig S.: It's not my job to tell you what's wrong with all your products .... and sending an email to your Corp will get me a 5 dollar gift card that I can't even buy a screwdriver with. That will brake . I got a master craft socket set and the Rachet spins both ways and even said made in China . If I had the recept I could take it back .... so I buy snap on yes it cost more . But I don't need a recept if it brakes. I got a set of wrangler territory tires 1400 .... 30 thousand km done. Then I went and got tires from fountain tire bfg . 70 thousand I am at now . And they were 1500 for the tires. So like I said when you go cheep . You get what you pay for .....

Steve N.: I have tons of tools from Canadian Tire. Is this their warranty policy now??? (If it is their cheating past customers) I had no problems in the past, I've never needed my receipt ( but it's been a few years since I returned anything) I worked as a technician for 16 years up till a couple years back. I'm going to have to look more into this before buying any more tools. If this is true and I can't get warranty on what I've already purchased I'm doing everything I can to avoid making ANY purchases at Canadian Tire. Also will be going with a different Credit card. I use my Options MasterCard for everything. All them tools I bought, being told I have lifetime warranty and don't need a receipt. Wow they had better inform customers of this policy change IF THIS IS TRUE. I hope I get my answer on here. I truly hope this was one incident of a misinformed employee.

Craig S.: Well they told me with out a recept they would not take it back . The last set I ever got from them had 2 13 mil sockets and no 12. I took it back . And the person at the returns desk try to tell me that there was no 12 in that kit and that's the way it is . So I asked why is there a spot that says 12 ... after the manager had a look and had to open a new box they found that there was mistake ...
