CT Sucks at: Customer Service

Another way in which the Canadian Tire stores suck, is in Customer Service.

Perhaps a few stores try to make their customers happy, but the chain is notorious for poor service.

With un-trained teen-aged floor staff, grouchy returns clerks, and abusive management, there can be little that the unsuspecting consumer can do to get satisfaction when the inevitable problems arise.

The ineffective Facebook and email CSRs are unable to hold the owners to account, because each store is basically "Jim's Tire Service and Small Appliance Sales", with no meaningful over-sight, or enforcement of minimal standards.

Some related topics have their own threads here, like auto dis-service and bait-and-switch tactics.

This thread is intended for discussions of general poor customer service, which seems to be worse at Crappy Tire, than at other similar sized retailers.

Here's a typical example of the response customers can expect from the lame CSRs on CT's facebook and email contact points:

Clint M.: And by assist, they actually mean ignore. I have been waiting over 2 weeks for a response to a message I sent to the above address at their request.

Clint M.: My feedback has been handled extremely poorly. Canadian Tire asked me to contact them at the email they provided. It has been 2 weeks today and they have not even bothered to respond. That is how much they care about customer feedback and service.

Clint M.: Sorry but over 2 weeks is an absolutely unacceptable time frame to get back to a customer. Do you consider this to be the "great customer service" which is important to Canadian Tire? Is it a good business practice for corporate to completely ignore a customer whose complaint was being ignored in store?

Typical:

Chase B.: For anyone that got a. " please get in touch with our customer care team" reply from CT on here. Don't bother. My grandparents got screwed over $200 on work they got done that would take anyone 20 mins to do. I voiced this complaint over a year ago one one of these things and I got the " contact our customer care blah blah blah" long story short. I sent an email with a picture of them telling me to contact customer service via email and guess what. No response. Absolute joke

Pre- and Post-Sales

Alex C.: Canadian tire needs to pay more attention to the people they hire. I have noticed that the employees just dont seem to care not all but most of them just want to get rid of you and dont go out of their way to satisfy your issue with returned products. Customer service at CT is getting really bad and should be addressed before everyone stops shopping there.

Donna's D.D.: Vina E. lights working or not working you have a right as a customer to return your purchase. I would have gone hysterical in the store. I would have asked for his manager. I would have called head office. I don't play that crap with my hard earn cash. That's why they lose money to Walmart Canada and Target Canada u.s. stores who are very accommodating. I am in Toronto and we have tons of stores. In small towns you only have one store to rely on but never ever take that nonsense from any employee manager or not.

ill put this observation on this thread.ive made it my business since i fell foul of CTs crappy policy to spread the word.when i first started out the reply from people was usually 'really?' and ive noticed over the last few months a very definite shift to 'ye we know we dont go there anymore'
interesting...

After-sales support:

Steve C.: Contacting the 'so-called' customer service e-mail is an absolute waste of time. They reply with canned answers and don't do anything anyway. Just don't spend ANY money there.

Robin B.: Thanks Steve, I have dealt with other companies before so I know it will be a waste of time. I only post this so other people will be aware of what kind of company they are dealing with. They only want you to deal with customer care so they can take you "offline". They don't really want customer experiences to be shared they just want you to hit the "like button".

Gee, do you think other people have had trouble getting help from the CSRs at Customer Support?

Sheri C.: Yep I agree. I emailed two weeks ago I got a email back today. What a joke. They did nothing but tell me to contact the store we dealt with. Do you not think we already did that? Lol!!! If they read the email they would of known that. Waste of time!!!!!
