Canadian Tires Policy on returns for open packages

Unfortunately I need to share something very important about Canadian Tire's return policy. I'm not sure if it was always like this or if they are recent changes, but I'm sure if you are aware you might think twice about purchasing there. They DO NOT accept any returns for open packaging. I tried to return an LED light because I did not like it and they refused to take it back because I had opened the clamshell packing. I explained that there is no way I could possibly know whether I liked it or not without opening the package. I was informed that regardless, the policy is NO RETURNS for open packaging. I called the corporate office make sure this was indeed Canadian Tires policy and not just a misinformed clerk at the returns counter and yes indeed this policy was confirmed by a representative at their corporate office "NO RETURNS ON OPENED PACKAGING". I thought I would share this with my friends, as you may want to consider purchasing your products from Walmart or Costco (much more consumer friendly return policy) and they carry more or less the same merchandise.

Steven:

There is a thread on this site for general complaints posted on CT's own Facebook page. Yours is included, at https://www.canadiantiresucks.net/g...ok-people-hate-crappy-tire-135.html#post11443

This policy has been in place for seval years, but is not made known to customers. There is a specific thread on the lack of a Customer Satisfaction policy, here: https://www.canadiantiresucks.net/g...goods-ct-has-worst-policies-27.html#post11586

While some owners seem willing to take a loss on a poorly designed, low quality or falsely advertised product, many choose to turn away dissatisfied customers like you, and the corporation allows them to do so.

Thanks for taking you time to warn your fellow Canadians about this terrible policy at the Red Triangle of Crap stores - lets all help get the word out!

The Crappy People who post here like to say, that you should buy from one of their competitors, if you aren't 100% sure that you will satisfied with what's in the package.

Because they know that Walmart, Home Depot, and especially Costco will almost certainly give you a refund if there is a genuine problem, that could not have been discovered before you opened it (a pretty common experience).

But the strange thing is, the Crappy People seem to assume that you will still come back to their Crappy Store, for the few items that you are absolutely 100% sure will be OK!

What is more likely, is that the customer will be like you, get ticked off, and never come back.

Basically, they are encouraging people to boycott their own stores - and the irony of this is completely lost on them, LOL!

Then again, maybe they divide consumers into 2 groups: those who might one day want to return something and those that never ever ever will.

As soon as a consumer returns something, maybe Crappy Tire wants nothing to do with them - like an American who's been ill and trues to get health insurance.

If that's true, they should hurry up and take down that "Easy Returns, Keep Your Receipt" sign, and replace it with "All Sales Final if you Open The Package."

You know. Speed things up, and nobody gets ticked off!
