Thread: Return policy

  1. #91

    Re: Return policy

I wasn't going to respond to the previous nonsense post at all.

But then I realized that this comment goes to the very crux of the why Canadian Tire's return policies suck so much.

"I assume you think that Canadian Tire should have a different policy than the actual maker of hockey sticks....but they don't....sorry"

    This is exactly the issue.

Every other major Canadian retailer does, in fact, have a different return policy than the maker of the product. They have a BETTER policy than the maker.

They all have a policy to allow a refund for most of what they sell, for some period of time.

(See the "Repair Only" thread for all the proof.)

Except for a few products (underwear and ammo), if the customer is dissatisfied, they can get their money back.

It doesn't matter if they opened the box. It doesn't matter if they tried it out. It doesn't matter if it was defective.

Every other major Canadian retailer will allow a refund for ordinary products.

This is what's called, "standing behind what you sell".

Only Canadian Tire has products with an "exchange only" policy, that says you can't get a refund.

Only Canadian Tire has products with a "repair only" policy, that say syou can't get a refund or an exchange.

Only Canadian Tire has a long list of products with a "no warranty" policy, that says you can't get a refund, exchange or repair.

All the denials won't change that. All the phony posts by CT Reps pretending to be customers won't change that. All the falsified reports of calls and visits to CT's competitors won't change that.

Should Canadian Tire have a policy that's at least similar to all the other major retailers? Probably.

    "but they don't....sorry"

Yup, that's the Red Triangle of Crap for you.

Well.....I'm glad we are finally on the same page.....it took you long enough. My issue was with your constant opinion that CTC's return policy was illegal....which it isn't. But now we're to the heart of the matter....which is that you just don't like our return policy. No problem....we're not the store for you....good. And for every other person that wants to "try something out", or borrow it for the weekend or to complete a job, or can't follow instructions, etc......we are not the store for you either. My local sporting goods store sells the EXACT Easton hockey sticks that I do....for double the price....the difference, is he will exchange a defect on the spot and I have to get an authorization from Easton. Not every person wants to pay double for that luxury.
If every retailer does such a better job then why are there so many sucks.com sites?
Return policies have been changing at EVERY retailer for the last few years and will continue to do so as we chase people like you from our stores and the others realize what they've inherited....eventually the whiners and losers run out of places to shop.....all these stores are in it for profit, try not to lose focus on reality.

    Re: Return policy

Just a quick reminder to consumers.

Be sure and check into the Sale of Goods Act and the Consumer Protection Act in your province.

In Ontario, consumers have the right to an exchange or a refund (their choice) for a defective product, despite what the store's policy might say.

Keep in mind: the manufacturer's warranty is irrelevent; the retailer must provide the refund regardless of the warranty terms.

For details, contact the relevant Ministry in your province.

For some additonal background information, consumers may wish to check out the various links posted in this thread:

    "Sale of Goods Act"

Also, you will find the explanation as to why a policy that is contrary to a law can be called "illegal".

I hope this is of use to my fellow consumers - and a thorn in the side of retailers who would like to cheat unsuspecting customers out of the refund they deserve.

    Caveat Emptor!

    Canadian Tire Sucks!

Nice try DavidLer....you've been spouting your opinion as truth for far too long without even ONE example that mentions CTC's illegal return policy (it doesn't exist). I see that you couldn't find or get consesus on your opinion on redflags.com either. Keep trying though....it's fun to discredit you.

it doesnt matter what the ct reps say or think

it only matters that customers get the information they need

What part of the other dealer's message didn't you get? You are not wanted....nor are people like you. Too much of a negative attitude and too much of a pain in the ass. I'll just have to survive on the 914 customers I had today (up from 862 on this day last year). They each averaged $46.74 per customer....do the math.

    Re: Return policy

    ha-ha

lame ct reps trying to 'fire' customers after theyve already left

the problem is the ex-customers are going to tell you current and future customers just how much you suck

i see you still dont like people telling the truth about your store and the law

too bad - word is getting

read ellen's article on how social media is empowering customers

we talk - we share - we influence each other

    tell all your friends:

    ct sucks!
