I'm a pretty decent guy and live by my word and feel ashamed that I held up my end of the bargain for nothing..
If you feel that they made promises to string you along go see an employment lawyer. Going by what you've said CT's got lots and lots of money because of folks like you. It's only fair that you wack them over the head to get your cut if they don't hold up their end. Lots and lots of cases like you.

And then has the nerve for more back pedaling when challenged. Another clerk talking beyond their pay grade.
Valuation and revenue are two different things. I merely responded to someone who said CT was small in comparison to Tim Hortons, which as proven is factually untrue! period.

Don't lecture me about business acumen, I promise you, you will not be able to educate me.

There's a surprise. Your average canadian tire worker thinking that they're entitled to more. You minimum wagers are nothing more than a bunch of snivelling cry babies mon esti. You don't show up for work, maybe drunk, if at all, screw up things as simple as working the cash, having the right price for the product, keeping the store clean and organized, lie on your hours and steal, and you want to be made full time. I'm sick of it.

I'll let you in on something. I didn't wake up one day and decided to employ all you bums. No, I decided I wanted more for myself and family and did it. Your a grown adult, colis tabernac.

I'm not responsible to you or for you bums. You want to be pampered then live with your parents.

Like I call myself, I'm an old timer. I made my money and put my kids and grand kids through school, and helped maybe a thousand other kids through school too. I live in a very nice house and have a garage and drive way full of mercedes, and a bentley. I'm proud of that. But I have no tolerance for lazy, welfare grabbing bums that think that they deserve a living just for breathing. You want that then go to BC. Alberta ships bums to BC. There you do all the drugs you want.

Now I'm slowing down and run a few tim hortons. I wish I had looked into it sooner as the profit margins are that much better than CT and less headaches.

aw gawwd the arrogance of such a lowly CT clerk with a scanner. The same one who can't read an annual report or have enough sense to know that profit from Tims is 13.5% vs CT's 3.5% and that revenue by itself is worthless. Clearly doesn't work in the real world but to a CT lifer it's all they know.

Boys and girls, moms and dads pay attention. The world has much more to offer than a lifetime of drudgery and having some mediocre corporation dictate nonsense and half truths of what you're capable of and what you deserve to earn. Take CT Me for instance, she's in her 40's, bottom of the barrel skill and is barely making enough for chewing tobacco. She hopes to make full time one day if she get's better on her knee pads. Do you want your kid to have that kind of future? You can save the future generation and your money by having your kids avoid CT entirely and learn what it takes to be successful.

Re: Stupid return policy to hide employee theft?

That is the single best post i've seen! So based on nothing, you have assumed you know my gender, age, position and annual income.

First of all, the Corporation does NOT dictate the earnings of store employees. They have zero involvement in such. that is all controlled at store level by each individual store owner.

Secondly, I do not need any sort of coaching on business from you or any other forum member. I am well versed in business terminology, reports and in fact.... running a multi million dollar business, which I do every day! So you can stuff that back in your pocket as a pathetic insult that carries no weight

Thirdly... since everyone is so bent on this Canadian Tire / Tim Hortons things, lets look at the facts. FACTS.... correct, accurate FACTUAL!! Percentage of profit is not a fair metric. Retail hard goods will ALWAYS have lower profit percentages. Consumer goods simply don't have big mark up. Food has big mark up. clothing has massive mark up.

Announced August 2010; Tim Hortons Quarterly profit was $94 million -Canadian Tire quarterly profit $119 million

There's a ton of ways to disect this stuff. CT's revenue is approx 4 times more then Tim's
our margins are lower, but our dollars and cents profit is higher. Tim's had 21% increase in profit. CT 16% increase
Read it however you wish but at the end of the day, you'll need some more facts and fodder to convince me that we are a failing company.

I want to thank the person for helping me with my questions, although it would've been easier and faster if you told me where to surf I would've not made as much effort. My mom was upset with me at first for wanting to return the bike. But then we talked and I showed her my research and she understood why I was upset. We went to the london court house and sat in family court for a child custody hearing. That's something that I don't want to get into. But then I sat in small claims court and it was a bit more interesting. I did get help with searching for cases and have found a few involving canadian tire.

I thought that canadian tire was a good company who cares about people. But in the end all they care about is money and not about the people who work for them or the people who take their cars in to get fixed.

Re: Stupid return policy to hide employee theft?

It's not just customers getting taken advantage of. It's the junior and non full time employees as well. We're asked to give a 110% and given impossible tasks to do in the time given for a hateful, moody managers and owner. We have to beg for more hours so we can get it all done. Most times we simply can't finish what's needed to do. And then when it comes to pay cheque time it's always short hours sometimes as many as ten hours. I've lost hours because the manager forgets that he's asked me to work an extra shift and then he tells me when I mention it to him that he never signed off on it. He does this with all the junior employees.

Just a drop in the bucket but what about the "big" one. I couldn't return a bloody unopened kitchen appliance to another location because the manager on Macleod was a total prick. So rather than handle the situation the corp office says to go out there again and try a different store. And if, a big "if", actually more like a "when" I get resistance in the return I should give them another call and they'll handle it. What the f@#$%? Like I'm going to go out there especially after the big dump we had and the roads being as slick as they are. S$%^ that.
