Crappy Tire is a Dinosaur Store

I purchased a car battery there less than a year ago. I've heard they buy seconds from the one supplier in the country but have no way to confirm. Less than a year later, the battery dies (it was sized larger than necessary for good measure). I have the receipt, but not the second half of the sticker stuck to the battery. The battery has a model, and serial number on it, as well as a date of manufacture sticker. The warranty is full replacement for 3 years and another 6 years of reduced coverage. Its clearly a Crappy Tire product as nobody else would come up with the stupid names like "ELiminator".

You'd think the store agent would apologize for the massive inconvenience the store has caused by selling another piece of crap battery but no. The posture from the get go is "Ha, no sticker, no warrantee.." with a polite smirk to boot and then a "have a good day" taunt as I leave the store.

To any CT lurkers, your store is going extinct. You have the worst process for cashiers, you insist on handing me this pathetic CT money invented in 1920 or something and your data systems are from the 70's. Your staff is rude and unskilled. I would ask anyone to take a visit to a Costco store. The prices are on average 25% cheaper, the staff is sparse but at least polite, they have proper cash registers and cashiers who pump people through at twice the rate as CT. The CT management are usually 90 year old guys who can tell you a story about square nails but missed the computer revolution.

You are going extinct. Yes, you kept my $100 for that bad battery you sold me and it is the last cent you will ever get from me. I might go in there on a spare day and buy some gum with my withered CT money just to slow down the lineups. But I'll first wipe my ass with that CT cash and hand it to you in a bunch so you have to count that shit.

    Ciao CT

CT batteries are made by Exide, the ones that are stamped "REJECT" from the Exide factory, Exide even put the CT labels on as a courtesy for taking out their trash.

Right Excide. the same company that makes batteries under several other names...OH maybe even COSTCO. It's guys like you that buy junk batteries from a wrecker and try to return them that cause us regular guys to bend over backwards to get warranty when we leave a battery in a car over the winter (outside) -40 with the lights on. And yeah I enjoy going to Costco to wait in their lines and line up to get out.

Why do you even shop at CT maybe you worked there as a kid but got canned for being such a goof!

the only junk batteries I have have had, displayed the motomaster emblem, which is another reason I do not shop there anymore, and yes I did used to work for them, as a technician, not a kid, couldnt wait to get out of that shithole either, I saw people getting ripped off constantly and had to quit as I couldn't take it anymore.

I never worked at that crap store, never would. It will go bankrupt soon and we can all go piss on the carcass.

But, the battery I returned was clearly new, from them and I had the receipt.

Nice fantasy though, that people are trying to return junk batteries. The reality is that the people working in the stores are all clerks with no authority and no balls. Anyone with balls would be able to get Exide to replace the crap battery. Perhaps crappy tire didn't even buy it though, maybe they go through their dumpsters on sundays to get their merchanidise. Their automotive department are too busy screwing up peoples cars with expensive repairs. Honestly, I don't know ANYONE that wouldn't laugh out loud about the prospect of taking their car to CT for work. I figured I was safe buying a battery, but obviously wrong. you know what they say...fool me once....

I have found a whole lot of ways to cost them money and time though with little effort by me. It's kind of a campaign I have going to take them down slowly. No, I'm not counterfitting CT money...the blank paper is actually worth more than the money...

Cool Re: Crappy Tire is a Dinosaur Store

Hey dork, we know that exide makes a lot of batteries and brands them, the point is, they test them and if they fall into a certain category, below a certain threshold, they sell them at a discount to junk retailers like Canadian Tire. Not many people know that but it is a fact. Common practice. They do supply a lot of normal quality tools, but back them up with terrible stores, slow checkouts, poor support of warranties etc. so the end product is a crap experience and that's why people call them crappy tire.

They are going bankrupt, because of their failure to adapt to the new world. Walmart, Costco, Home Depot are eating their lunch. That doesn't mean they are perfect but they have each found a niche that works.

CT on the other hand, has found the poor quality, moderate price, lousy service, ridiculous customer service niche which doesn't attract anyone. Sears is in big trouble too because they had a premium niche with good support but they've turned off the premium support, so they are just overpriced with no backup.

CT has tried to modernize, but only their marketing and we've all seen those annoying, poorly done commercials littering the NHL broadcasts.

They will go bankrupt in a very competitive space. Adios Mother F....ers.....

You just have no clue how business works. Here's just one item. You actually think that Excide goes through their batteries and sells the the poor quality to CT! That would cost them more than it's worth. I'll stay tuned for the day you succeed in taking them down with your smarts DORK!!!!!

Exide Technologies is the manufacture of the Sure Start, 72Month, Eliminator, and new Nascar batteries, Including the dry cell. It is ALSO the manufacturer for most other brands you buy batteries from; Sears Motorcraft, Interstate, as well as many other brands. It's the 2nd largest Battery manufacture in the world.

Why would you blame us for the fact that you lost your warranty? That warranty has the matching serial number for the battery. It tells the manufacturer exactly WHICH battery (Not the type of battery but the SPECIFIC battery). You aint getting away with having insurance on a car WITHOUT A VIN NUMBER. Same goes for the Battery. When you get a battery the second (attached) matching serial number is attached to your warrenty.

If you weren't smart enough to keep the warranty where it would NOT go missing (I train my staff to politely mention to each customer to put the warranty with their INSURANCE PAPERS where it won't go missing....) or else you can try blaming the POLICE for taking your car away when you lost your INSURANCE PAPERS ;-)

Also, Batteries are NOT the same as they were likely in your day and age many many years ago. Batteries today are MUCH more delicate no matter WHO you buy them from.

Battery's are manufactured for FACTORY vehicles however many owners today are adding modifications to their vehicles such as more electronics, sound systems, ignition systems which all drain more power, and put more strain on both battery and alternator but don't upgrade their ALTERNATORS to be able to constantly supply the more needed sufficient power to the battery when you start the car . Also, you can easily create a hairline crack in any of the plates simply by hitting a large enough pothole.

Many people also don't realize that each time you jump start a car, you can be slowly killing your battery and the moment you completely DRAIN a battery to "0" volts and jump start it (unless you slowly trickle charge) you can be killing the battery.

Everyone knows it's better for the battery to be TRICKLE CHARGED. When you jump start a car you are forcing all the voltage and amps in SECONDS.

So perhaps try not to just blame EVERYONE ELSE for losing your warranty (Would you lose your insurance papers?) and try THINKING about what you can do to prevent this like this from happening.

Personally we get tired of having to deal with customers complaining about returns when THEY LOST THEIR RECEIPT. There is a reason you are given an itemized receipt and why you have manufacturer warranties and why we need not only proof of purchase but if defective need to abide by what the manufacturer requires.

People seem to think WE (Canadian Tire) manufacture these products). We don't manufacture ANY of them. They are the middlemen who SELLS them.

The only difference, dear moron, is that your car doesn't suddenly stop being insured if you lose the insurance papers.
