I'm surprised that no one has posted in here yet. Jobmate is a Canadian Tire specific brand. AND, it SUCKS!! Very poor quality items for the most part. Extremely cheap in every way!

As much as I like to bash and hate CT (and I do, believe me), this is an instance in which you get what you pay for.

It's hard to expect Makita quality at a Jobmate price.

OTOH, I wish that when one does return a Jobmate that fails (almost inevitable), that one wouldn't get the runaround (prove to us that you bought it here--I sure as f*ck didn't buy it at Sears!)...

For the record, I have a shop full of Makita tools, and I've never regretted the money I sank in them...

Default Do NOT deal with Canadian Tire Auto Club or ABC Towing Ever!!
Here is my story. It is January 10th and I'm driving in Burlington, when my car decides to die on the side of the road. I had just recently paid for a yearly membership to the Canadian Tire auto club and called them to come tow my car. At first I was going to have it towed to Canadian tire, but after dealing with the service guy decided to have it towed to mississauga(family friend)

Upon arrival, the tow truck driver seemed quite pissed that he had to go all the way to mississauga from burlington. After hooking up my car, I left him and walked the rest of the way to work. This was at about 530pm. The next morning I get a call from my mechanic saying there is a $100 parking ticket on my windshield, and the tow truck driver had parked my car improperly. I was furious!!

I called Canadian tire and demanded they pay for the ticket. The customer service guy told me to call the tow truck company(ABC Towing) and deal with them as they are sub-contracted through Canadian tire. After calling ABC, and talking to the owner(the one who towed my car) He basically laughed in my face and told me the ticket was not his responsibility; that he had towed it and left it in the designated spot, and that someone must have shuffled the cars at night(the door was left unlocked. I told him that was preposterous as my car was disabled, and no one just walks up to a car and shuffles it for the sake of being funny. I got nowhere with him.

I called Canadian Tire back, and they said they would file an incident report about the situation and have a District manager call me regarding the situation. So while waiting, I decided to take another trip to the mechanic, and after talking to him, he told me his assistant had been there until 930pm and the car still hadn't arrived - the ticket was issued at 1010pm. He showed me where the car was left, and it was parked in a zone which CLEARLY stated "parallel parking only". Not only did he not parallel park my car, he left it parked, and sticking out of the lane quite a bit(to interfere with other cars passing by.

Now I am beyond furious! I called Canadian Tire once more, and they told me after assessing the situation they were unable to help me, as it is an issue with ABC Towing. Now I am wondering why my car wasn't taken there immediately, and why he parked it that way. I think it had to do with the fact that he was pissed because I changed my mind and wanted it towed to mississauga. I have no idea what else to do. I am currently waiting for a meeting with the parking control of mississauga, and if that doesn't work out I am going to small claims court. Canadian Tire also will not issue me a refund for my membership which I bought about 2 months ago. Does nobody care about the customer anymore?? I don't know how to get my message across anymore without resorting to violence(lol, I would never)

Do you think I stand a chance? Should I sue both ABC and Canadian Tire? I have a friend who is a lawyer so that is not a problem. Any help would be appreciated. It seems like I have lost before I am starting!

Here's the best example why Canadian Tire Sucks

The carry their own line of cheap crap tools called JOBMATE
I received this tool for a father's day gift this year 2008
This tool will NOT shut OFF! The switch is stuck in the on position!
Very dangerous and very unsafe.
I called CTC for help and they said call the number in my owners manual!!!
I threw that crap out with the box it came in!
After on hold for 7 minutes I got a number from the store clerk 1800 689 9928 CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS he gave me a number for a NON WORKING MERCHANT SERVICES? Now I'm back on hold trying to get the number again!!!
Finally I got JOBMATE number 1 866 562 6283
Upon speaking with the customer service rep (BARB) I was told no receipt no
warranty!
And after 1 year too bad!!
Wait a minute this is a safety issue.! This is no difference than purchasing a vehicle long after the warranty is over and having a seat belt that wont disengage !
Sorry even if it catches on fire and burns your house down your out of luck!
Now I have a number for JIN DING the manufacturer 1866 349 8665 ext 203
which is now looking into the matter
What a bunch of crap!

Maybe in cases like this you need to resort to something underhanded to get your revenge. Since ABC clearly screwed you and don't want to take responsibility, one might consider doing something like finding out where their depot is and then covertly scratching the shit out of their trucks. They'll wish they had done the right thing and paid the $100.

I second the notion to stay as far away from Jobmate as possible. It really does reinforce the phrase "you get what you pay for".

Some times the use of COMMON SENSE is required here.. Ever heard of the term YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR?

If there is a drill selling for $20 (jobmate) and another which seems to have the same features for $89 (Mastercraft).. Can you actually assume a $20 JOBMATE will be in anyway compared quality wise?

Jobmate is GOOD, for basic SELDOM usage and not to be relied on.. if you want to use it on your car, well it's NOT worth it in most cases.. Either the product is not good quality, or the components will break easier and quicker than one that is say Mastercraft.

There is a reason JOBMATE has a 1 year manufacturing warranty and LIFETIME warranty on mastercraft handheld nonelectronical tools.

So, in other words, if you have any $20 bills lying around, you might as well use them to wipe your ass because Canadian Tire deems that anything purchased for that amount is garbage.

just a note that motomaster oil filters have been recalled due to a problem with them leaking....they are in fact made in China not by Fram along with the motomaster "aw tires" and several others.

Since when is "Fram" a country or "China" a brand? And there was nothing wrong with the oil filters. You conveniently didn't mention they were found to have no problems and were simply being installed incorrectly.

thanks for letting me know that motormaster oil filters have a recall
and leak.i will pass that along to others i never used them any way always
used puralotor or fram the white coloured motomasters always looked cheap
anyway and there jobmate tools realy do suck i have no idea why
there still being sold at ct i bought a job mate drill from them only
because they had it on sale for real cheap i used it 2 times in 1 year
and it stoped working warranty expired on it had to throw a new looking
drill in the trash hardly used it that guy was right you get what you pay
for on the other hand there mastercraft tools from ct are not bad at all
from what i have heard. lately im hearing a lot of bad reviews and things from ct i
really think there management department should sit down have a
meeting and figure out how to make ct better i mean better managing there store
and better training for there staff too. to deal with problems as they arise this is surely needed
so we dont put down are canadian tire but hey instead have a good hassle
free shopping experience to go to

First of all the "whiz kids" are trained service technicains just like anywhere else. These stories of CT having untrained kids doing mechanic work is simply Bull Shit. As bad as you people think CT is they are still a business and operate as such. And the oil filters are not the highest quality filters around however it is true that nothing was wrong with them. A "temporary stop sales" notice was placed on them while they quality tested a batch becaasue of customer complaints (yes when customers complain CT does react and try to resolve the issue). After investigating the "issue" it was determined that noting was wrong except that people were installing them wrong, primarily crossthreading them (how ever there was an instance where the customer crushed the side putting it on). Now maybe the side wall of say a Fram is stronger and maybe they are harder to cross thread but you pay 6 bucks for a motomaster and 12 for a fram you get what you pay for and there are many people who are happy to buy a cheap filter and take proper carre to install them correctly. Now think of it this was... my one store alone sells thousands of filters a year and has for many years if they were really that bad or had a major defect youd here about it on the news not on a blog site

Please define what "Bull Shit" is. Where I come from, it's spelled "bullshit", which would be defined as your entire post.

I can call you a retard since you cant seem to formulate a resonable complaint... Just comment on peoples grammar

Your atrocious grammar is a reasonable complaint. It's offensive to the eyes and the intellect.
Based on the way you express yourself, I'd have to conclude you're the one with a sub-average IQ. Spelling and grammar aren't rocket science.
