Three weeks ago I had my oil changed at CT here in my home town.Last week I was driving along and my car just stalled.I tried boosting it to no avail.I had it towed to the nearest service station(Petro Canada) to determine what was wrong. To my shock and horror the mechanic told me my engine...

A Canadian Tire policy that seems to cause a large number of complaints is their “Repair Only Warranty”.
The name doesn’t sound so bad. It seems like it’s only telling you something about the manufacturer’s warranty.
After all, how could a “Repair Only Warranty” doesn't sound a whole lot...
Yes I am, and I'm proud of it. This corporation is dispicable with its employees. However I'm sure I won't be working there much longer as now that Christmas and Boxing day is over and they've made a good bulk of their money from our hard work It's quite logical they should now cut back all our...

Does anyone know of a "Winter Tire Policy" at Crappy Tire? Today I tried to purchase and install 2 Winter Tires (Hankook) from CT Eglinton, Scarborough. I already had 2 new Winter Tires (Nexxen) purchased and installed at Walmart in 2009. The parts guy wrote 4 tires on the slip of paper, at...

I had these guys do a wheel alignment for me.
Alignment seems OK. However, the service order says I must re-torque the lug nuts after 50 kms.
So, I went to do that, and found one lug nut cross threaded. The lug nut is jammed about 1/4"
away from the wheel, and I can't tighten or loosen it...

Has anybody heard of this before?
I came across this on Ellen Roseman's "On Your Side" blog (here: Your right to a refund, credit or exchange | Ellen Roseman).
Apparently, "the Sale of Goods Act says that merchandise must be fit for the intended purpose".
Basically, if you buy something, then...

Product Review: FM Transmitter

Many consumers are unaware of the "Scanner Price Accuracy Voluntary Code" (also known as the "Scanning Code of Practice").
Several store chains in Canada (including Canadian Tire) have agreed to abide by the following code:
- If the scanned price is higher than the "correct" prices (i.e., the...

After a few days of reading the forums I decided to chime in with my $0.02 plus tax
Seems to me I've read the same complaints over and over again, twisted and typed different ways, with no real substance. So allow me to lay a few things out on the table
1) Most of CT's products are Chinese...

According to Mr.CT Manager his customers are all potential fraudsters to justify the stupid invasion of privacy for returns and exchanges. He goes on and on about how bad his experiences are and how many times he's caught them with fraud. Any study on the break down of his customer base? Age...

Back in 88 or 89 I believe it was, Canadian tire offered a life time warrantee on their Motomaster Eliminator battery. There were no conditions (that I remember) such as "as long as you own the car", in fact I bought the battery over the shelf and did the installation myself , so there is not...

Anyone heard of the store policy change? I don't know if this is specific to the Chilliwack store only, or all Canadian tires, but it seems that if you now take something back, even if the product is clearly defective, you will be given a choice of taking an exchange (does not need to be the...
I purchased a Super Winch AtV 3000 in Dec 09.. My new machine 100 Kms. had only 100 kms when the transmission went on it. Consequently I didn't hook up the AtVv 3000 untill this spring. I now have 205 Kms. on it and a failed attempt at an ATV 2000 super winch which I threw in the bush. In the...
