I've heard that CT Owner/Moaner/Dealers have to pay CTC the full retail price for any items that are shop-lifted. Other franchise owners only lose the wholesale value. Or they're genuine chain stores, so the corporation loses the wholesale value, not a local owner/dealer.
That's why the staff at a CT store are more aggressive with customers, if they think you might be planning to steal something. They are more likely to search bags or ask you to leave them at Customer Dis-Service.
