    Winter Tire Fiasco

Hi, I'm new here and the following is my recent experience with Canadian Tire that has me spending my $$ elsewhere. In mid November I decided to purchase winter rims and tires for my wife's Pontiac Vibe. I looked around at some of the "exclusive tire" retailers and was disappointed with the...

Winter Tire Policy??? Tried to Buy and Install 2, was told I had to buy 4?

Does anyone know of a "Winter Tire Policy" at Crappy Tire? Today I tried to purchase and install 2 Winter Tires (Hankook) from CT Eglinton, Scarborough. I already had 2 new Winter Tires (Nexxen) purchased and installed at Walmart in 2009. The parts guy wrote 4 tires on the slip of paper, at...

    Toronto, Yonge st

My power steering went. I don't have a proper location or tools to fix it myself right now, but I decided to call ahead to their parts dept. to see how much the parts cost. I'm told the high pressure intake hose cost 70 and the other one 40. Pump without resevoir is 110, with, 190. Prices...

    Auto Service

Stay away from Sarnia C.T automotive service .The Service Manager is a absolute idiot. It takes a hour or more for a oil change and when you finally get your car back they try to sell you hundreds of dollars worth of repairs

    great auto service

i had a very honest experience at this ct store and wish every service center was like this one. only parts changed that needed changing, up front estimate for work, and very friendly service manager

    Everyone should know this

This is from the APA (Automobile Protection Association) website. It has also been featured on W5. The Canadian Tire store on Macloed Trail South in Calgary actually ruined a perfectly good part in front of the APA's hidden camera, and presented a bill of $620. APA.ca Buyer beware, indeed.

    Unacceptable service

I had these guys do a wheel alignment for me. Alignment seems OK. However, the service order says I must re-torque the lug nuts after 50 kms. So, I went to do that, and found one lug nut cross threaded. The lug nut is jammed about 1/4" away from the wheel, and I can't tighten or loosen it...

    Sale of Goods Act

Has anybody heard of this before? I came across this on Ellen Roseman's "On Your Side" blog (here: Your right to a refund, credit or exchange | Ellen Roseman). Apparently, "the Sale of Goods Act says that merchandise must be fit for the intended purpose". Basically, if you buy something, then...

My first time back to Canadian Tire in years

I needed 4 new tires so the first place I thought off was Canadian tire. I asked for the all season radials CT brand tires. First problem was this store only had 3 tires of this kind and it would be 2 weeks before he could get the forth one. Second problem I ran into was I knew nothing of...

Getting Free Stuff From CTC - Legally!

Many consumers are unaware of the "Scanner Price Accuracy Voluntary Code" (also known as the "Scanning Code of Practice"). Several store chains in Canada (including Canadian Tire) have agreed to abide by the following code: - If the scanned price is higher than the "correct" prices (i.e., the...

    customer service

So You Think Canadian Tire is........

After a few days of reading the forums I decided to chime in with my $0.02 plus tax Seems to me I've read the same complaints over and over again, twisted and typed different ways, with no real substance. So allow me to lay a few things out on the table 1) Most of CT's products are Chinese...

    Fired from start of job

I was talking to a mechanic who went to the berrydown rd. store in Sudbury for a job. When the interview was almost over the manager told the mechanic that when you work on a car losen something so the customer has to come back. The mechanic refused to do so and was fired before he got his...

    Rude management

I will never shop here again. I tried to get a price adjustment on an item that there were now advertising on sale at a lower price and I was within the 90 day return policy. They state that you only have 14 days for a price adjustment. Instead of just buying the item again at the lower price...

    Claude in Parts

I watched Claude at the parts counter speak condescendingly to a nice old guy asking him questions. No eye-contact - a pissed off look on his face - condescending attitude when he didn't agree with the old guy's assumption about what part he needed, etc. This is commonplace at this store...

    You Guys Need A Life

I Type in Canadian Tire on my Google page and i stumble upon this stupid site, i find it quite funny that people actually take time out of their "precious" lives to trash talk a store and its employees. Its sad, I would love to see where people who use the forum work. As an employee of CT and...

TIP: Re: Car Repairs (CT, or any shop in general)

Here is a good tip to help determine if your shop that you deal with is a ripping you off on parts. Find a way to get your car up on a hoist, or using a jack. Get out your favorite sharpy (colored would be more noticeable) and put a dot, or line, or in some way mark some of the parts that you...

Returned goods put back on shelf to be resold (to me)

It seems almost everything I buy at CT has been returned. I consider these products to be used, not new. I bought a cot. Good quality, on closer inspection, blond hair boot print and dust. Hey, unexpected overnight guests? Buy, no rent, cot at CT and return it the next day. It's back on...
