Another ill-advised bicycle ad from Crappy Tire:

Shawn T.: This picture is FALSE ADVERTISEMENT. Not one bike that CT sells could or will handle a trail or terrain like that! It is even labeled that they can't! Could very well be putting unsuspecting people in danger.

Shawn T.:

my bike was $600 ( Opus ), an entry level but it sits on good components, unlike a CT bike the crankset will be loose when you get it and will stay that way until all your bearing spill on the road leaving behind a un-fixable Bottom bracket.

You can say I have had my fair share of CT bike before I realized that quality of a cheap price it safer. And like I said, my was only 600$ with Avid BB7's, RockShox, and SRAM X4 setup... Just go to a real bike shop!

Shawn T.: No contact shall be made. It is just frustrating and irritating when photos like this are used to promote and sell CT brand bikes when you guys know very well that these bike CAN NOT handle this type of terrain/riding.

Andrew T.A.M.: Never buy a bike from Canadian Tire. Once you leave the store you can't return it, even if they are at fault. I had to go through hell over a bike years ago, and to this day, the only place you can find this out is on a small note behind the bike section. They should tell people before they pay. That, and their bikes are crap.

CT offered advice on hand signs ... which seemed like quite an invitation for people to offer the gesture that, what should I say? Oh - that Canadian Tire is "Number One!".

Russ P.: Can you hand signal a lawyer when you canadian tire bike falls apart while you are riding it?

Sean M.: How bout filling people in on what amazingly crappy bikes you sell CT. Show us u really care...

From https://www.canadiantiresucks.net/g...chat/857-sold-me-broken-bike-2.html#post9352:

---

I find this very amusing that a CT Manager claims to disagree with the policy of his employer. I hope you would put more effort into trying to change your store policy than you did in the lame excuses you listed. Really, you believe there was a threading issue??? Here's my story.

I bought what seems to be the same bike from CT. I went for a 20 minute ride and my pedal came off as well! Upon checking the threads, they matched, however as it broke free from the arm, it ripped first three threads from the original pedal, so I could not reuse it. Yes CT Manager, my L&R pedals were on the proper sides. I returned to CT and started to get much the same run around as the others, so shut them up before they expended too much verbal diarrhea. I ended up buying a package of two replacement pedals (for ($12) and putting the new one on myself (properly).

Since then, I put about 20 km on the bike and today I have a new problem. It appears there may be a problem with the rear axel. Simply put, if the wheel turns, so does the chain sprockets and pedals!!! Its as though the assembly is seized? IF ANYONE HAS ANY IDEAS HOW TO FIX THIS, PLEASE LET ME KNOW.

I have always been a CT supporter, but after reading the above posts and considering my experience with the pedal, I think I will follow suit and chant CT Sucks.

Nick F.: My bike story isI bought a five thousand dollar four wheeler from Canadian tire that lasted six months and can't be repaired because no parts are available and no one will work on it. Now I'm stuck with a piece of broken junk that Canadian tire will do nothing about.

Another poor victim, reponding to the facebook 'sawhorse' spam:

Eric R.: I doubt I'll buy it. It might break 3 week after I buy it LIKE MY 11 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER'S BIKE. No refunds. Just repairs. Total customer service failure.

Gerald S.: You better know how to service your own bike if you buy one from CT as they offer no after sale service. Good luck with parts too.
And if you think a bike shop will help many wont - they'll tell you to take it back to where you bought it.
CT sells crap bikes period. Don't think you can't find a well priced bike at many bike shops, you can. Ad they are built by professional bike mechanics who, unlike CT, will be there for your after sale service and parts needs too.

Gerald S.: So CT if I do contact customer service, will you start selling better bikes, assembled by qualified bike mechanics who provide both before and after sales bike service?
Or will you ignore that in the same spirit in which you deleted my last comments here?

Brian J.: I bought my bike 2 1/2 weeks ago, this morning I was riding to work which is actually only 2 blocks away from home and in the middle of pumping my legs to get up to speed my pedal failed and I hit the pavement hard. My arm and leg are both gashed up, I have no broken bones although it hurts to even walk or get into my truck. I spoke with the district manager here who offered no help whats so ever and even goes to the extent of blaming me for it. The store manager offered to repair the bike only. I feel I should be compensated further as I no longer have trust in this store or the repair being done to my bike. My girl friends bike is 4 years old from Wal-Mart and she hasn't had a single problem with it. Anyone that wants to see what'll happen to your leg or arm after the pedal fails, feel free to friend me and i'll send you the pictures. As of right now, i'm considering talking to my sister in law's lawyer. But i'm also considering talking to WCB since I was on my way to work and they cover you to and from work. Not sure which way i'm heading.

Steve B.: Guess I can slip this in here, although it will probably be deleted... My stepson, Brandon K., bought a bike at Canadian Tire on April 22nd of this year. He cycles a km/1/2 each day to and from work, a total of basically 3 km/day. He does not use it for offroading, only city riding. The bike is falling apart, a piece of shiite obviously built in China, but Canadian Tire will not honour the warranty on it. And this company is supposedly "Canadian". I own a small business here in Ontario, and if I pulled this crap, I'd be in jail. So, in light of this, I will spread the word that Canadian Tire is not looking out for their customers, only their bottom line, and I will encourage people to NOT shop there...Walmart has more respect for their customers than this supposedly "Canadian" company!! Have a nice day CT, and know that the word will be spreading...FAST!!!!!!!

Steve B.: I was pleasantly surprised to see a response on there to contact customer service, so let's see what we can do to remedy this problem. We have already been to the dealer that sold him the bike and told flat out that the warranty would NOT be honoured. I've already received a lot of feedback on my post from angry and disillusioned customers, and I'm more than prepared to post and repost this story until something is done about this. I'm also prepared to take further measures to protest my stepson's and others' treatment by CT if this is not dealt with quickly and to everyone's satisfaction. You now have my contact info CT, so the ball's in your court. Let's see what we can do about this

what im seeing is an increase of people complaining on facebook that their posts will almost certainly be deleted....mr owner how long will you continue to stay deluded?its becoming more and more obvious thats there is an increasing move to make a stand against your horrible company.maybe im the first who knows?either way is only a matter of time before the probability of a class action lawsuit to bankrupt your nasty company will become a reality.you have been warned repeatedly, your lawyers have been warned repeatedly, and you believe that you are outside the LAW.....wake up dude its only a matter of time.

Louise K-D:
I purchased a bike 2 weeks and 5 days ago, asked if it was going to be on sale, but no answer was available. Today I went to the store because it is now $50.00 cheaper but because I am 5 days over the "2 Week guarantee" period, Canadian Tire would not give me the sale price. I was going to buy a second bike, but guess what, I changed my mind. I do not think 2 weeks is comparable to other stores who guarantee price matches. What do you think???
