Luv'em or hate'em, big box retailers can afford to carry name brand stuff at much cheaper prices due to their buying power. Not that I would put much faith in any brand name anymore, as most have outsourced or outright moved production operations to China, Taiwan, Phillipines, or anywhere else labour is so cheap that they can pass on lower prices to consumers in North America.....but not with the same quality that $18.00 an hour buys you in Canada or the U.S. Progress is progress, I guess....my parents still have the same toaster they got as a wedding gift, 52 years ago....works perfect.....was a Sunbeam. Sunbeam was bought out 15 years ago and all of there product is shit now. The original company went bankrupt because if you can only sell one toaster every 40-50 years, then you're surely screwed in the era where employees want $20 bucks an hour to build something of quality....instead, we'll take a "disposable" toaster for $19.99 that lasts 2 years and sits in a landfill for another 50 years. One day, we'll end up paying huge sums of money to overseas countries, so that we can dump our garbage there....as our landfills will be full! The Chinese government must be laughing their asses off at us.....sad.
