This one's starting to sound familiar ...

Alex Perry Well, I realize I need new brakes so I bring my car in. Driving on the 401 and realize that jackass in your store didn't put a wheel on right. I was one small bump away from losing my wheel. Thank you for the $700 in damages and the loops I had to jump though to get that money from you!
Seriously, never ever let these guys touch your car.

One about a tire order gone wrong:

Pat Frost LIKE Canadian Tire? I cannot stand Canadian Tire.I ordered two new tires and they told me three days as they had to order them in.......it has been three months and I have never heard back from them.I went elsewhere and had my tires and installed in less than two days.

One about a tire repair gone wrong, in reply to "What do you need ..." thread:

Andrew Hoffmann One thing one doesn't need is when you go to Canadian Tire to get a low tire looked at.
After going home to check the tire psi to see if its matched with the others, just to find its at 70psi... Car tire is rated for (50psi max) the rest of the tires were 35psi.
They had the gall to have me wait for 2hours for it, had to hand in my keys, and pay $40 for it.
After calling in my complaint, the best they could offer me was to let the air out of my tire again to match the rest.
Thanks Canadian Tire.
If I couldn't do that on my own.?
That tire still leaked. Trail Tire
my friends, that's where tires get fixed...

FB post, in response to CT's spam on plumbing repairs:

Johan Fehr Go to Canadian tire for lessons on how to cossthread wheel nuts

Same guy, different thread on CT's FB page:

Johan Fehr Wow, I bought 2 tires from your company in Grande Prairie. After 2 return trips to get the tires sealed, I ended up at Kal tire whosealed the tires. Then, upon removing an old tire that had been rotated by Canadian Tire, I notced the whole lug come out. OOPS, CROSS THREADED THE NUT Good job

There's a detailed post on a new thread at https://www.canadiantiresucks.net/g...-hello-everyone-its-about-tires.html#post8189.

I've edited it down a bit, for the part on CT's problems:

I live in Burnaby, BC. My Canadian Tire experience could have deeper legal ramifications, so I would appreciate everyone to read it.

In October of 2012, my car a 1996 Saturn needed four winter tires. I went to the Canadian Tire website, and it told me that for my model of car I needed size 15 tires. According to the website, in order to ensure the store had the inventory I had to buy these tires on a credit card. I chose to use my HBC MasterCard. The invoice was produced, with an Oakville ON address.

The inventory was confirmed to be at the store, so I made my appointment for the morning of October 31, 2012. The service manager took my invoice and found it in his computer. I asked that they also check my brakes for me which was something that I also thought was the responsible thing to do. I also requested they call me if any expense beyond the tires was required.

I went to breakfast at a nearby restaurant, and my phone rang. It was the service manager who told me the tires I had ordered over the Internet were too large for the car. That I actually required size 14's. When I agreed to that the service manager said he would cancel the Oakville invoice and start a new one. At the time I saw no problem.

Of course my phone rang again shortly after this. The service manager told me I needed a lot of brake work, so I okayed that and an oil change. I was pretty certain the car needed the work, and with winter coming I figured all was a good idea.

When it came time to pay the bill, the Oakville invoice was returned to me, marked with "cancel" and "refund" by the service manager on its face, and the new invoice was shown to me. Now I have no argument with the brake work, oil change and installation of the size 14 tires, but here is where things got weird.

The first cashier was a young male trainee, and when I asked him if he knew how to handle rebates, he called a more senior cashier. That woman started a till tape for my BC produced invoice with the reversal of the costs from the Oakville invoice. She told me it would remove the charges for the four size 15 tires from my credit card. I believe she was unaware at the time there were two invoices involved.

The bill came out to be over eleven hundred dollars which I paid in full within the time allowed to avoid interest charges on the MasterCard. However, the over four hundred dollars for the size 15's on the Oakville invoice were still on my credit card statement.

I called the store and was told I would still have to pay for the size 15's that I never bought. I appealed to the HBC Credit Services, and Capital One Bank Canada that owns all of the MasterCard operations regardless of what name they put in front of it. At one point HBC Credit Services agreed with the invoices and till tape I faxed to them, and zeroed my MasterCard account. Then suddenly and without explanation, reversed their decision and put the charge back onto the card.

Neither the manager of the Canadian Tire store, nor representatives of Capital One Bank, Canada or HBC Credit Card Services have offerred to explain to me why I owe money for tires I did not buy.

I did not know where to turn so I am in the process of paying off the over $400 dollars, now plus credit card interest, for tires I did not buy.

What is important here is, has anyone else out there had a similar or identical situation with the purchase of tires at Canadian Tire. If this is happening any where else in the country, then perhaps we should get the RCMP Commercial Crimes Branch involved.

If you have had a similar thing happen to you, and you still have the receipts to prove it, please contact me so we might decide to go after Canadian Tire as a group.

Thanks for reading.

Recent tire-related event at a CT (dis)service center:

Nelly M: I will never use Canadian Tire, I brought my car to put my summer tires, and he refused because he wanted me to buy 2 new tires and I declined his request. I went to Honda L'Allier in VSL and they did the job, they mentioned to me that 2 of my tires will need to be replaced, but not right now, I still have the summer to drive with them on my car. SHAME ON YOU CANADIAN TIRE, I guess your guy at the counter wanted to make his commission, but because I refused to change my 2 tires, he refused to do the job. SO PEOPLE BE AWARE on how CT treats the customers, maybe he thought they could put pressure on a woman and take money out of her easily.

Latest horror story:

Danielle P.: So I have a story about the abysmal business practices of Canadian Tire. Three months ago in the dead of winter we ordered a new set of tires. We were told we would receive the tires in a week. TWO WEEKS later we receive a call stating that the tires were out of stock. THREE MONTHS LATER we had tires installed on our car. For the past three weeks our tires pressure has been fluctuating and decreasing. This confused us as we paid an extra $50 to have nitrogen put in our tires. Upon inspection we not only noticed that our tires were filled with air, but that the 255 sized tires we paid for were in actuality 215 sized. THIS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS as the lowest tire size our car permits is a 225. Not only were we not rendered services and materials that were paid for, the negligence and unprofessional-ism of Canadian Tire is a real danger to us until we take the car in to get this fixed.

Adriano O.: Heartland-Mississauga... More than 5 hours to brake pads and rotor change. The shop crew all playing and have fun and the idiot customer here waiting. Thanks Canadian Tire. Never again me or my friends

CT keeps inventing new ways to suck ... at tires:

Donna W.: I'm not happy with CT as well. Poo Poo on customer service. I spent money on a tow instead of tires in the Oakville the store. I just needed help to take off a spare tire. I will not use CT ever.

And, here's the followup, if you do as CT's facebook monitors suggest, and contact Customer Service via email:

Denielle P.: Still no response to my tire inquiry Canadian Tire. How incompetent of a business are you?

More tire suckage:

Sue G.: Imagine a company for which it is named and got its origins in tires can install tires on a car so incorrectly that within 24 hours there's a blowout and now the customer has to go and buy four new tires because one is damaged after the blowout. Perhaps Canadian Tire should go back to its roots and have less focus on patio sets and household items. These are all good but if your patio umbrella falls apart at least your life is not at risk. this is the 2nd time CT has installed tires on our vehicles with problems within 24 hours. If I had been killed in the blowout situation I wouldn't be here on FB to inform others. I should have listened to those who knew better too.

Stock issue:

Lisa T.: Hah! I called Canadian Tire looking for tires. The man said my car didn't exist because he couldn't find it in his "system"... I asked him "So... you don't have tires to fit my car?" He insisted my car did not exist and they stopped making them in 2006. I Hung up confused; wondered if that conversation really happened

David B.: They destroyed my snow tire and still haven't returned any of my calls. I was stuck with replacing myself! Never again!!

Another screwed-over customer:

Laura T.: I will never have this company do any motor vehicle work for me ever again I was a good customer and my dad was a valued employee for almost 30 years..... I bought 2 tires from one of your locations and had them installed there 2 months ago, guess what one of the new tires poped today.... and your company told me that they would not replace my tire and told me that there was nothing that they could do....... ok here is what I am going to say, I am a mother of 3 soon to be 4 children, I am on a fixed income and your company took money to do this work it equals out to be 2 weeks worth the groceries they took out of my children's mouth to have you not honor a warranty that the sneakily noted that there was no roadside something or other coverage..... so Tell me how this is right or fair..... my kids now have to walk to their out of area school because the little bit of lively hood I had busted because you are greedy.......... nice way to kick a pregnant woman down that was already in financial crisis !!!!!!!!!

Phil L.P.: avoid their mechanics. yesterday I got them to swap my new tires to my rims. it took them two hours to figure out they didn't have the tool, which I bought from Canadian tire, so they didn't even put them on the car, I got home went to put the tires on the car to find out they didn't even put more than ten psi in each tire, plus they had a lug nut of mine and still had a bushing that goes between the tire and rim...YOUR MECHANICS SUCK! I did a better job in my driveway in a quarter the time!!!!

Doreen T.: Canadian Tire District Mangers Suck!!!!!!2 years ago I brought 4 new tires at Mount Pearl Store NL,with in days 1 tire kept losing pressure, went back n they said it was the valve, replaced it,tire kept loosing pressure, took it back again, said nothing wrong with tire(,now that bad tire was on passenger side, but this time when I got car back tire was on drivers side, made me wonder)went back again n said i wanted tire replaced,no can do because nothing wrong with tire.Called head office n explained everything, told me they would contact store n get my tire replaced, which they did, store called n told me to come in.when i got there told i couldn't get tire replaced at that time because parts manager wasn't in,next time i went back told me they couldn't do it because now store manger wasn't in,went back a third time n they told me they couldn't do it because they couldn't find invoice #,finally gave up because i live 1 n half hours from that store, spent enough in gas to buy new tire.spent the last 2yrs pumping up that tire every couple of days,I finally replaced it last week, out of the 4 tires that was the only one I had to throw away, also brought 2 tire pumps in those 2 yrs.

John W.: I had went to canadian tire in Slave Lake, Alberta last fall to get new winters tires. And, as they changed my tires, they busted a few wheel bolts and all they can say was 'the last guy who changed my your tires must have tighted your wheel nuts too tight'. Then, the store wanted me to pay over $700.00 to fix my wheel bolts. $700.00 I didnt have!!! I just paid them $750.00 for new winter tires. So a month later I paid $650.00 to get new wheel bolts put on.

This lady (lady!) had to coach one of the so-called 'technicians' on how to change her tire! Hilarious!

Wendy L.: The fellows put on the tires ok but didn't know how to put the donut tire and jack in place. I walked the young fellow through instructions from my car manual. I had to go in and ask for them to do this for me and it took much longer of course.
