Buying Batteries From Canadian Tire - Warranty Issues, Etc.

No reason to doubt all the consumers who wrote about stickers, stamps and warranty cards.

Even Angry-CT-Me-Liar-Guy wrote about "stamps", LOL!

Lots of excuses used by the Crappy People to deny warranty claims for defective batteries. Many examples, on this site, Red Flag Deals, etc.

The only one claiming there's only one rule: Angry-CT-Me-Liar-Guy.

Lots of consumers posting about warranty periods shorter than 10 years, too.

Seems like the Crappy People aren't being truthful about a lot of things!

You’d think someone who calls themselves an “owner” would be busy trying to learn all the ins and outs of their own business.

By the way, I wonder if they’ll take a minute or two to post that information they “already” have about EVERY Canadian battery warranty?

It sure is taking a whle to supply any evidence, even for their "only one with 10 years" claim!

Stamps engraved in battery casing indicate manufacturing date.

120 months total warranty
4 years free replacement
4 years road side

Best in the business. period.
I challenge you to find otherwise. I haven't.

So, how many of Crappy Tire's batteries have this so-called "best in business" warranty?

All of them? A few of them? Even one of them?

Because, so far, we have seen zero evidence that Crappy Tire even carries a single battery that has this kind of warranty.

Not that it matters, though. Because they don't seem to stand behind their batteries, any more than they stand behind other products they sell.

And what evidence has been produced that these warranty terms, if true, are the "best"?

Why should we take the unreliable word of the Angry-CT-Me-Law-Guy anyway?

Smart consumers will do their home-work, and pick a retailer who's reliable.

And that will certainly mean Crappy Tire won't make the 'short list'!
 
Angry/CT/Me/Law/Guy makes it sound like every battery they sell has a 10 year warranty, with free replacements for the first 4 years, and free roadside assistance.

But can we trust them to tell us the whole story? Of course not!

It's really easy to find Crappy Tire batteries that have much shorter warranties - just go to their site!

Here's one that's only 6 years, with only 2 years free replacement, no roadside:

So, if any consumers were thinking, "Gee, Crappy Tire has good warranties on their batteries", think again.

Maybe some are good, but certainly not all of them.

And there's still no reason to think any are 'the best' - just another unsubstantiated claim by the Angry/CT/Me/Law/Guy.

Besides, what good is a warranty, if they just refuse to honour it?

A warranty is only as good when it is all intact and the terms are met. Just like when you buy a big screen tv or an alarm system and pay for an extended warranty. If you lose the warranty, don't expect your warranty to be valid. If you don't follow the terms and conditions of the warranty (contract) same thing.
 
Tips on Buying An Automotive Battery From Crappy Tire: #1

Make sure you purchase the battery through the cashier in the Auto Department, and not one of the other cashiers or through the Self Check-Out.

Otherwise, you won't get the proper cards, stamps, etc., that you'll need to have any chance at all of persuading Crappy Tire to honour their promises.

Better yet, but from someone reputable - lots of them out there, so no need to 'roll the dice' with Crappy Tire.
 
Batteries are not usually accessible to customers and unless the customer went behind the desk, how would they have retrieved a battery?

You admit that batteries are sometimes accessible to customers, so where's they mystery? It was one of those stores where they are accessible, so consumers need to beware.

If you had any sincere questions, you could just go to RFD and ask the OP yourself.

You used to at least try to be reasonable ...
 

I don't recall ever saying that auto batteries were accessible by customers. I had stated that they are usually behind the counter (or what I forgot to mention in the backroom/warehouse). I've worked as a manager in 4 stores and neither of them had batteries that were accessible to customers (either backroom, or behind the counter)

There is a reason that batteries would require staff to retrieve it; one being to write up the warranty. I don't understand where I am being unreasonable? I'm merely making an observation.

If a customer self served a battery which is possible in some stores, when they returned for warranty, the stickers would still be intact on the battery instead of having been transferred to a warranty folder. With receipt in hand, and the required stickers, a warranty could easily be honoured.

I suspect not all details are present

Because you'd just written, "Batteries are not usually accessible to customers".

Saying "not usually" means "sometimes auto batteries were accessible by customers".

I'd seen it for myself, back when I still set foot in those Crappy stores.

And the OP on RFD actually fell into this trap.

(Hey, have you tried to contact the OP on RFD for clarification? How did that go? Did they recant their statements? Huh?)

So, the warning to consumers still stands:

"Tip #1: Make sure you purchase the battery through the cashier in the Auto Department."

And don't forget: "This is a site for consumers."

And no evidence yet posted that any Crappy Tire batteries have a 10-year warranty - just the example of one with a mere 6 years - easily beaten by CAA, for example.

Out of all those claims, and after all those lies, the Crappy People have only proven one, single claim: that they have one battery with a 10-year warranty.

But here's yet another battery they sell with a shorter warranty:

there was never a claim made that every battery carried the 4/4/10 warranty.
In fact in an earlier post I made reference to our second line batteries.

Like every other retailer of batteries or other products, there is a branding strategy of good better best.

For most vehicles there are multiple options.... good better best available for most common applications.


It's difficult to believe you post as a consumer advocate when you've never actually researched anything related to a Canadian Tire battery purchase and or warranty. All you've done is hijacked a few postings from a handful of upset customers and try to leverage that into a full scale complaint against CT. You don't know the warranty process, you've never had a warranty folder in your hand, you don't know about the serial number stickers or ANYTHING related to a CT battery purchase.
