CT owners don't actually own the buildings. They are leased.

Interesting. "Owners" aren't actually "the owners" of the building.

So many layers in this organization, but all seem to have troubles with laws and ethics.

Huh! Learn something every day!

I think you are making things out to be more complicated than they actually are. Most companies do not own the real estate they build their businesses on. They are simply tenants who lease the space. The banks don't own their bank towers, or their branches, Target wont own their stores, Sears doesn't own their stores, Canadian Tire doesn't even own its home office. (Neither does any other retailer out there)

Its not a matter of law or ethics, its just the way the world works.

The issue isn't who owns what.

It's just about who is violating laws and ethics.

There are a growing number of examples where the employees as well as owner/dealers have been caught behaving illegally and immorally.

You were kind enough to point out that the corporation itself is also behaving illegally and immorally.

Not really all that complicated, LOL!

But thanks for the clarification, though!

(Interesting how you try out the age-old excuse: "other guys do the same things, so it must be OK!" LMAO!)

Wait hold on, don't get mixed up here

Owners, as in dealers do not own the buildings we operate our stores from. We do not pay lease, we do not pay a monthly fixed rent to occupy the space, regardless of who owns the buildings.

Canadian Tire Corporation owns MANY of the buildings that the stores are in, and also leases a bunch as well. It is a mix. If they are leased, the Coporation leases the building from whoever owns the location such as RioCan, Smart Center etc.....
In fact Canadian Tire has a massive real estate portfolio in Canada. I believe it's somewhere in the area of 75% of stores are owned by the Corporation

Fascinating stuff. Sometimes it's the corporation breaking laws and ethics, sometimes it's the "owner"/dealers, sometimes it's the managers or employees.

Good to be able to pin down exactly which Crappy Person it is who's being caught doing what!

Moaner1:

I see that instead of logging on, lurking & creeping, and then not post anything, you've finally decided to actually post some of your traditional 'dribble' this time.

So, before I forget, where's all that evidence you kept saying you had, about every single retailer of automotive batteries in all of Canada? Still waiting, LOL!

Oh, and where's your evidence that "Canadian Tire has in fact changed ways that some refunds can be given to customers"? Still waiting for THAT, too!

LMAO!

Another employee caught with his hand in the till. And these are the people who accuse innocent customers of "fraud"?

The "theft was allegedly done by an employee who took money from daily sales at Canadian Tire's Great Northern Road site from December 2011 to October. An exact dollar figure wasn't available, said Const. Sonny Spina of Sault Ste. Marie Police Service."

I see a nice little lawsuit shapin' up!

Mike I.: I fell due to lack of maintenance of the Canadian tire dealers parking lot in fort st john bc. This fall occurred December 7th, 2012. I was interviewed by the insurance adjuster and he told me because I documented my injuries a resolution would be quick in coming. it'\s now six months later and we are still waiting for "documentation" from the dealer. Very disappointed Canadian tire, don't really think you deserve to be called Canada's tire store anymore

Airport rd/Melanie dr locations were closed down due to fraud by ct management and personnel. This has been going on for a number of years. Damaged goods sales (cash payments only) were being stolen, year after year, but the proceeds were suppose to go to jumpstart. They also have entire trailors missing from the airport rd. location! Everyone was fired, it was reported in a memo issued by management!

Does anyone know what is going on with this theft issue? The manager that was the ringleader was a good friend of the Billies family, so they got away with millions worth of goods for years. Also a store was involved in the scheme. Products were being sold at a specific store thru the scheme without CT knowing about it.

"The Moaner" says they have 65,000 customers every minutes (or some crap like that).

I guess now it's just 64,999:

Jeffrey B.: i am taking them to court also have a big letter done up to send to market place. i have never felt so betrayed by a Canadian company
