If Crappy Tire wants to say "unopened", then they should just say "unopened".

They already say exactly that, on their list of "exceptions", for products that "may only be returned if unopened".

And the Crappy Site has begun including this for specific items.

But right now, the Crappy Tire policy does NOT say, "unopened", or even "unused".

No, individual stores can't just start adding new restrictions without letting customers know what they are, before the customer buys it.

Geez, grammar and now literacy. Please learn to read and understand the meaning of the word "and"

Boy, the Angry CT Person sure does get grouchy!

- Nothing about the condition of the packaging.

- Nothing about the item being unused.

- Nothing about the package being unused.

- Nothing about the condition it was in before it was restored to its original condition.

If the consumer opened the package (even damaging it in the process), uses the item, then restores it to the original condition, and puts it back in the "original packaging", then it falls within Crappy Tire's own policy, and the store is obligated to provide a refund or exchange.

I know the Angry CT People don't like their own policy - maybe they can convince their superiors to re-write it?

But until it's changes, those are the rules they need to follow.

no

"unopened" means "unopened"

but "in its original conditon and packaging" doesn't mean unopened

lots of places on the site say "unopened"

for example:

"ink cartridges, media, and memory cards, books, DVDs, CDs, mattresses and portable beds may only be returned if unopened"

if every item in the store needed to be returned unopened, the site would say so

and not list the ones that need to be returned unopened, and the ones that don't need to be returned unopened

This ``consumer advocate`` site is a total failure and a joke

By my best guess, Canadian Tire would serve approximately 500,000 people EVERY DAY. that`s half a million.
If CT was soooo terrible, and `the word was getting out` there would be dozens if not hundreds of complaints on here every day. not just two or three guys who just keep posting links to other threads that they themselves started in the same website.

Go do something useful with your time.

Consumers vote with their wallets. For years they`ve been voting pretty clearly. Away with mom and pop shops, away with specialty service and personal attention to detail. They vote for lower prices, a wide variety of national brand names and private labels all in the same spot, open late, open 7 days a week - big box mass retailing. The majority of NOrth Americans live paycheque to paycheque. Very little discretionary income. If they can save 10 bucks they will.

drive through any downtown core of any medium to large size city, you`ll see it. empty store fronts.

You are not advocates, you are complainers. If you want to be of value to consumers, join a coupon club, help people save money.

Funny how much time the Crappy People spend on this site, telling consumers that there isn't anybody here, LOL!

Anything that gets this much attention from the Crappy People, is clearly worth-while.

When buying gifts for friends and family this season, be sure & watch out for the many items Crappy Tire sells that have "No Warranty".

This means that they can't be returned if they are found to be defective, even if they are 'dead on arrival', and don't work right out of the box.

No exchange, either, for "No Warranty" items. Not even a free repair. You bought it as a gift? Too bad if it doesn't work - they are stuck with it, no matter what.

What a shame it would be, to have your gift turn into a deep disappointment, instead of a joy!

Why take a chance? Be sure and shop at stores that stand behind what they sell.

But if you think Crappy Tire has the item for a good price, be sure and look into the return policy before you buy.

Just look for the words, "This Item Has No Warranty" on the Crappy Web Site, or check with Customer Service.

That's your cue to buy the item some place else.

Because no other store has this aweful "No Warranty" (i.e, no refund, no exchange, no repair) policy - Crappy Tire has the worst policies of any major Canadian retailer!

With hot days just around the corner, you might be tempted to invest in some inflatable pool, cottage or yard toys.

But Crappy Tire often sells inflatable items without any refunds, exchanges, or even repairs - like this $450 item:

You'd sure better make sure the packaging is in good condition - because once you take it out of the box, you own it, and any defects will instantly be your own problem, not the store's.

Plasma cool portable air conditioner. Buyers beware. I purchased one in may 2012 and it lasted 10 days and all canadian tire did was give me a phone number. I paid over $600.00 for a defective piece of crap and once you pay ct they want nothing more to do with you. don't buy anything from ct unless you want to just throw your money away. They do not back the products they sell so go someplace else. You have been warned.

Well, at leat the a/c unit had some kind of warranty.

There are plenty of products with no warranty at all, and CT can try using that as an excuse to wriggling out of any responsibility for the crap they procured.

And many of those "no warranty" items cost more than $600.

Ok, this might be the most expensive "No Warranty" product Crappy Tire sells:

Ultra Max Big Country Canopy, 30x30-ft (9x9 m) | Canadian Tire

Cost? $2,000, less a penny.

Warranty? "This product has no warranty"

Imagine finding a missing pole or a big rip when you first set it up!
